Browner, who played safety for the Minnesota Vikings, was an outstanding Defensive Player and tackler; Browner was selected to six Pro Bowls, in 1985-1990 while playing with the Minnesota Vikings (1983–1991).
He finished his career playing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1992. Joey Browner is also a 4-time member of the John Madden “All-Madden Team”. Joey also is a six time NFL Hall of Fame Nominee. Joey was the first round draft-pick and 19th overall pick as Safety of the Minnesota Vikings in 1983. Recently was announced as one of the 50 greatest Vikings ever!
Joey is a Veteran Traveler having gone to China with the NFL players association in 1988 to Germany with the 1989 USO Tour and to Paris to kick off the French Federation of American Football Annual Championship game in 1991.
Joey Browner has a foundation and is a regular on the Sports Radio scene with his partner Rich Perez in Hawaii & Nevada.
Joey is involved in most Minneapolis Communities and often reaches out to the public. This has always made and kept Joey Browner a fan favorite. His actions are admirable and his accolades unparalled in his career. Over 1100 tackles in his 10 years playing a record for any DB or Safety. The Vikings and Joey Browner are synonimous and we are hopeful that the Vikings add Joey's name/number 47 to the ring of honor someday!
Joey's family of Brothers still ranks as the #1 family in the NFL and NCAA ranks. Joey Browner, Ross Browner, Jimmy Browner, Willard Browner, Keith Browner and the late Gerald Browner all made significant impacts at USC, NOTRE DAME, GEORGIA, and with the NFL BENGALS, BUCCANEERS, VIKINGS, RAIDERS and CHARGERS. Many great teams and many awards taken by the Browners, most notably Ross and Joey in their football careers.
