DYHA and the Phoenix Firebirds would like to congratulate Justin Hermann on accepting his Tender offer to play for the Minotauros of the (NAHL).

Coach Collins stated that Hermann Is a very strong powerful forward who loves to hit! His poise and defensive maturity are beyond his years. Hermann is a gutsy, two-way forward with speed and leadership qualities. He has the versatility to play center and wing, power play or penalty kill, scoring line or a checking line.
Hermann has huge upside , Despite growing up in a non-traditional hockey area, Hermann's potential as future junior and College player is probably more tied to being an all-around player who contributes at both ends of the ice . Hermann is one of the top penalty killers on the team. Hermann has led the team in PK ice-time, and is not only fast but plays with absolutely no fear, blocking shots and sacrificing his body is a big part of his game. Hermann is a team Player that will do whatever is asked of him. Hermann plays with a ton of heart and determination and his presence on and off the ice are second to none.
I am extremely happy for Justin having to have such a wonderful opportunity.
--Todd Collins, Midget U18 AAA Head Coach
Selected as NAPHL's Peak Performer

Hector Majul helped the Phoenix Firebirds to an undefeated record in Darien and is tied for the PHL lead with three game-winning goals.
The North American Prospects Hockey League (PHL) announced its Pointstreak Peak Performer from the PHL 18U event held earlier this month. The player was selected based upon his performance at the third PHL event of the season, which concluded December 4th at the Darien Sportsplex in Darien, Illinois.
MIDGET MAJOR (18U AAA) POINTSTREAK PEAK PERFORMER-Hector Majul, forward, Phoenix Firebirds. Majul, 17, has been selected as the Pointstreak Peak Performer from the PHL event held in Darien, Illinois earlier this month. The Mexico City, Mexico native helped his Phoenix Firebirds go undefeated with a perfect 4-0-0 record at the PHL event in Darien and help Phoenix climb all the way to 7th place in the 18U standings with an 8-5-0 record.
In the four games in Darien, Majul registered seven points in four games. All of Majul’s seven points were goals. Majul (5’10/175) is currently tied for 2nd in the PHL’s 18U AAA Division with 10 goals this season and is tied for 1st in game-winning goals with three. He started off the event by registering a goal in the Firebirds 4-3 win over the West Michigan Hounds. The next day, Majul registered a hat-trick, which included the game-winning goal, in a convincing 6-0 win over the Indiana Jr. Ice. On Sunday, Majul scored his second straight game-winning goal in a 3-1 win over the Texas Tornado. Later that afternoon, he had two more goals in a 5-2 win over Orange County.
Majul’s story of coming to the Firebirds and playing in the PHL is an interesting and intriguing one. Just five years ago, Majul was living and playing hockey in Mexico City, Mexico when he was noticed and had the opportunity to come to the United States and take his game to the next level.
“Very few people know that Hector is actually a world-class soccer player for his age,” said Phoenix 18U head coach Todd Collins. “He could easily get a scholarship to play college soccer, but his first love is hockey. Since coming to play for us four years ago, his improvement level is off the charts. I think his hand/eye coordination in soccer has benefitted his game on the ice because he has great hands and a natural scoring touch. He just understands how to see and get around on the rink.”
However, it is Majul’s speed and ability to find the back of the net that has caught the eye of junior scouts. “I think the thing that stands out most is his speed. He is a world-class skater,” said Collins. “He has worked very hard over the last couple of seasons to develop that speed an turn it into scoring chances.” His performance in Darien was so good that the North American Hockey League’s (NAHL) Texas Tornado signed Majul to a tender just this past week to play in the NAHL next season. “It is an incredible opportunity for him and well-deserved,” continued Collins. “He plays on a great line and all those guys really stepped their game up in Darien and as a result, that entire line has signed tenders to play in the NAHL.”
Thanks to the undefeated weekend in Darien, Collins said that the Firebirds have found their stride and are eager to keep the momentum going at the PHL’s fourth event of the season in Dallas, Texas, December 28-31. “I think the first couple events, we wanted to make sure all the players got an opportunity to play and show us what they could do in different situations,” remarked Collins. “Once we got an idea of who could use on special teams and who would work best in line combinations, this team started to really gel. Hopefully we can keep it going and try and finish in the Top 8 to give ourselves a chance in the PHL Championship series in February, but more importantly our players are developing and getting the opportunity to play at the next level.”
Tommy Kaddatz Tenders with Alaska Avalanche
DYHA and the Phoenix Firebirds would like to Congratulate Tommy Kaddatz ,as Tommy has signeda Tender with the Alaska Avalanche , currently the Number 1 seeded team in the West. Coach Collins says Tommy is an outstanding centerman and to have an opportunity to play under Head Coach Corey Millen will be an Honor. I am very excited for Tommy's Hockey future as he has worked extremely hard on and off the ice ,and not to mention in the Classroom. The Firebirds arevery excited for Tommy and wish him the best of luck with the Avalanche !
Tommy has very good vision and shooting skills, in particular, a highly accurate shot, keeps goaltenders guessing. While he certainly prefers to shoot, Tommy does not hesitate to make the pass if it’s the better play.Tommy is very strong for his size and tends to win a good deal of his one on one battles in the corners and along the walls.
He has an excellent wrist shot and can be a consistent point producer. He has great knowledge of the game and very good instincts.

The Phoenix Firebirds U 18 AAA Team completed a perfect NAPHL Showcase event in Darien Illinois, going 4-0 to climb the NAPHL 18U AAA standings. Phoenix, who began the event with a 4-5-0 record now sits at 8-5-0 and is in the all important top 8 in the standings. Phoenix defeated the West Michigan Hounds 4-3, Indianapolis Ice 6-0, Texas Tornado in their Sunday morning game, 3-1 and then topped Orange County in the afternoon, 5-2.
Coach Collins says that their Team success this weekend has stirred lots of interest from the scouts and some of the boys will likely be seeing some NAHL Tender offers this week. Collins feels that the firebird Team has great Chemistry and everyone on this team plays a very intrical piece of the puzzle. From the Forwards to the Defense to Goalies. All the players are Rock Solid on and off the ice. We have extremely good speed from top to bottom ,which creates havoc for teams that need that necessary time and space needed to get their play going. This team continues to improve month by month with the latest event being the best outing yet. The amazing thing is that they are far from reaching their full potential. When they do, they will draw alot of National attention.
