Playoff run comes to an end
Losing 5-1 in a deciding game might seem like a but of a blow out, but those who saw the final game of the Saints' season know that the game was a lot closer than the score showed. After battling with College Jean Sauve for 2 previous games and though out the first two periods of game 3, the Saints were victim of a very late goal in the second to give CJS a 2-1 lead heading into the final frame. The late goal was a deflating one for PCI as they were unable to rebound from it and fell to the Olympians to loose the series.
PCI allowed the first goal in the opening period but were able to tie it up on the power play on a goal by Nicole Laramee assisted by Brittney Ricker and Tyneille Neufeld.
PCI carried the play for most of the second but were unable to solve the CJS goaltender. In the final frame the Saints continued to press for the first few minutes but CJS got their insurance goal with 10 minutes left in the game and never looked back from that point on.
The game was the last of her high school hockey career for captain Jade Barrault. Barrault had an outstanding season in her third and final year for the Saints and her leadership will be missed on and off the ice.
With many players still eligible to return for the 2012-13 season, the future looks bring for the Saints hockey program.
Thanks to all fans, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles who supported the team thought the season.
See you in September!
