Montgomery coached from 1969-2017, winning a state title in 1985 and is still second all-time in the OVAC in victories with 869 wins — only behind Magnolia’s Dave Cisar.

Montgomery also ranks third in all-time wins in the state of West Virginia.

While he was waiting for baseball season to arrive, Montgomery spent his time as a basketball referee and still does to this day — a job he’s enjoyed since 1962.
