Jack Cook

 

Coach Cook lasted 24 years at Marshall University where he became the all-time winningest single-sport coach with a record of 422-344-3. He led Marshall to two Southern Conference titles (1978 and 1981) and two NCAA tournament appearances (1973 and 1978). Following his retirement in 1989, the Jack Cook Most Valuable Player Award was started in his honor. Coach Cook is a graduate of Marshall where he became an assistant professor in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department and was captain for the Herd in 1949.
