WVBCA Hall of Fame 2019

Stephen served as Head Coach at Sissonville from 1994 - 2001 where he compiled a record of 169 - 100. In 1995, Sissonville was the AA State Runner-Up and then in 1996 won the AA State Championship. Stephen then moved to Nitro where he compiled a record of 346 - 123 - 2. While at Nitro he led his teams to seven AAA State Tournaments, winning titles in 2008 and 2010 impressive finishes as State Runner Ups in 2009, 2012, and 2015. All told in his 22 years of coaching he compiled a record of 515 wins and 223 loses including two ties, 9 State Tournament appearances; coached 3 State Players of the Year; 17 First Team AlI-State Players; had five players drafted by MLB; while also scouting three years for the Atlanta Braves. Stephen was a 1st Team All-State Pitcher for Chapmanville High School in 1987, helping lead the school's first State Championship. Stephen has won many local, state and national Coach of the Year honors but is prouder of the relationships he enjoyed through playing and coaching the game of baseball.
