Kish the Rock is a Northern Illinois 10 hour or 4 hour Adventure Race

What is Kish the Rock Adventure Race - Adventure racing is a multi-disciplinary team sport that involves navigation over an unmarked course. Our 10 hour race will include  paddling  / mountain biking / orienteering / "creekteering" / trail running . Racers will have 10 hours to get as many checkpoints as they can in that time. The team with the most checkpoints in the shortest amount of time wins. The race is in the name. Racers will find themselves paddling the gorgeous Kishwaukee River and riding the challenging single track in Rock Cut State Park. This will be an adventurous course that highlights some top areas in Northern Illinois. We will have many transitions during the race to keep you moving from one discipline to the next with numerous land navigation sections.

 

Our 4 hour race will feature paddling / biking / orienteering / "creekteering" / trail running. This race will be designed for the beginner adventure racer but will include multiple transitions and disciplines. This is a great race for the adventurer looking to find out what adventure racing is all about. Don't second guess yourself, sign up and give it a try - it will be a blast!

 

Quick tips for gear:  pfd's / paddles / boats will be provided. Racers may bring their own pfd's and paddles, but must use a race provided canoe. 10 hour racers must use a mountain bike. You will get wet during the 10 and 4 hour race so plan accordingly.

This race is open to a 2, 3, or 4 person teams in two divisions: coed and open.     

 

Cost - Early registration before June 1st 10 hour  - $125 per racer      4 hour - $50 

           After June 1st -  10 hour - $150 per racer    4 hour - $65

(Cost includes - Race Swag, post race meal/drinks, awards, maps, permits, canoes, PFD's, paddles, adventurous course)

 

We need a minimum number of teams by July 6th to hold this race. We will update every registered team on July 6th - if we do not have enough participants to cover race costs we will be unable to have the race. Paid racers will receive a 100% refund immediately after a decision has been made.

 

*Since this is a USARA sanctioned event racers must bring $8 cash to race registration or their USARA card* (10 hour teams only)
