Due to the ongoing COVID Pandemic the Sioux Falls School District will allow a parent/guardian to transport to and from event with a completed form. In the event a parent/guardian is requesting to transport their child From or To and From an activities event when transportation is being provided, this form must be completed and returned to the coach by 4:00 PM the Day Prior to the departure for the event, for school approval. The parent/guardian must check in with the designee or advisor/coach/director prior to leaving for the event, and out with the designee or advisor/coach/director prior to leaving from the event. A student may ride only with his/her primary parent/guardian (as listed in Infinite Campus). Students may not drive themselves to events or ride with other family members or team members.  See Policy/Regulation JJH/JJH-R.

Any violation to the above said policy will result in a Class 4 Activity Violation (SFSD Year Round Activity Rules)

The student should be dismissed at the same time as the rest of the team.  Screen the same time as the rest of the team is screening to get on the bus.  Once screened the student can be released to travel with their parent to the contest.  Coach must ensure it is the primary parent/guardian.  At the conclusion of the event the parent and student/athlete must wave and be acknowledged by the coach to ensure leaving with parent.  Please do not have any other way of documenting this.  The form must be used, email, text, phone call, etc. will not be an acceptable form.  After 4:00 PM the Day Prior, no forms will be accepted, no exceptions.

To get through Friday, we would work with you all and your parents to make this work, i.e. due by 12:00 pm Thursday, September 10 for Cheer/Dance event in Yankton.  This will for sure have to be the way we are operating come Monday, September 14, 2020.  Please ensure that our coaches will then space them out on the buses.  They are measuring 6 feet from where the positive is and taking those seats, just an FYI.

 Parents and Athletes!

Please read the following from our athletic director Steve Moore with regards to the policies in affect for training this summer

We are now one week away from beginning our summer athletic workouts.  I am extremely excited about seeing the students and each of you in the next week.  I am sending this e-mail with some reminder notes, as we continue to prepare for Monday, June 15.  Here We Go Riders:

  • Karla has sent out Preparticipation/Paperwork Reports for your rosters to each of you.  Please follow up with your student-athletes regarding any missing items.  Obviously, the student-athletes must be cleared to participate through the activities office in order to participate in our summer workouts.  I have attached an Interim Medical History document to this e-mail, in the event that a parent asks you for this document.
  • I have attached the Check In/Screening Document that I would like each of you to use when screening your student-athletes prior to their workouts.  You will use one document per session per day.  By the end of the week, we need to have all of these documents on file in the Activities Office.  If you have any questions regarding this, please call me.
  • The student-athletes should not report to be screened for a workout until five minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
  • Please encourage the student-athletes to only bring their car keys, their cell phone, a filled water bottle, and a towel for sweat(if they prefer) to their workouts.
  • There will be hand sanitizer throughout the building during the workouts.
  • There will be disinfectant spray bottles and rags in the workout areas for clean-up.
  • The only restrooms that will be available will be in the commons area around the corner from the trophy cases.
  • Each session is to begin with 5 minutes of screening time, 45 minutes of workout time, 10 minutes of clean up time, and 5 minutes of transition time.
  • Strength/Power Workouts in the Weight Room begin at the top of the hour.
  • Individual Sport Workouts begin at the bottom of the hour.
  • Please read the attached Student-Athlete Responsibilities document to the group of athletes at the beginning of each session on the first day of the scheduled workout.

Thank you for all that each of you are doing in preparation for Monday, June 15.  I greatly appreciate it.  If you have any questions, please contact me.

Go Riders,
