Introduction to the Website
9/13/2017

Welcome, athletes and parents to the Canonsburg Lady Knights organization. Thank you for visiting the Lady Knights' website. This article will give you a brief introduction to our site.

The site is organized into four (4) separate areas. There is the top-level or main organization area, and there are three (3) team areas.

Navigating the Website

Upon arriving at http://canonsburgladyknights.com, you will see the navigation bar near the top of the page.

  • 2018 Teams - This drop-down menu provides links to the individual team websites.
  • B-Board - A link to a page where bulletin board style articles will be posted. These articles are temporary and will be deleted when they become irrelevant.
  • News - A link to a page where news articles will be posted. Some of these articles may also appear on the home page of the top-level organization. These articles are not intended to be deleted.
  • Sponsors - A link to a page of our sponsors. Please visit this page and support our sponsors.
  • Photos - This drop-down menu provides links to:
    • Album - An album of photos of past teams and a few more recent pictures.
    • 12U Shutterfly - This is a link to the 12U Shutterfly page where there is a lot of photos of the 12U Morgan team.
  • Locations - This is a link to a page that contains all of the field locations that have been used when a scheduled event has been created in a calendar. These locations are created by all Teams that use the schedule on the website.
  • Home - This link will bring you back to the top-level home page.
    • The Canonsburg Lady Knights logo in the left part of the banner is also a link that will return you to the home page.

Additional Content That You Will See on the Organization Home Page

  • Schedule - This area on the home page will show the next five (5) events that are on the calendar. This includes the organizational calendar and the individual team calendars.
  • News - This area display news articles that are tagged to be displayed on the home page. That means that not every article is listed here. Click on the News title or the News navigation bar link to see the full list of articles.

The remainder of the organization home page will be random information that is important enough to be the first thing visitors should see.

Team Websites

The team websites are managed by a team webmaster. This means that one team website may look very different from another. Since I take care of the 12U team website, I'll give you some insight into what information you will find there.

The 12U team website has a navigation bar similar to the top-level page.

  • Schedule - This link takes you to a page where you will see the events and games scheduled for the 12U team only. No other team events are listed here. You will also see the player's birthdays in the calendar. The birthday dates come from the roster information.
  • Scores - Periodically, I will input the scores from the games that we have played. No other stats are entered. Visit our GameChanger page for more detailed stats.
  • Roster - This link will take you to our team roster. If you'd like me to add, remove, or modify anything you see on the roster, please contact me: [email protected] or 724-708-5107
  • Coaches - A link to a page displaying our coaching staff information.
  • Organization - This link will return you to the top-level organization's home page.
  • Home - This link will return you to the team's home page.

Subscribing to the Team Calendar

There is a pull-down menu in the bottom-right corner of the team's schedule page. If you click on that menu, you will see several options for subscribing or exporting the team's calendar. Exporting will get you a one-time copy of the calendar. You will not receive any updates. If you choose one of the subscribing options, then you will receive updates to the calendar. I have experienced around a 12-hour delay in updating the team's calendar before seeing an update in my Google calendar.

Field Locations

Each team event or game in the calendar always includes a location. I have input all of the 12U locations. If I am given an address, I will use Google Maps to show me the address and confirm that a softball field is nearby. If I can get a better GPS address from Google Maps, I will use that as the location address. If you click on a link to a team event (either from the top-level page or the team site), you will be provided with an Address and a link to a Map. If you feel that I have entered a bad address for a location, please feel free to contact me: [email protected] or 724-708-5107.
