Prep basketball roundup: Dimond girls win Silver Bracket at Gator Winter Classic!

The Dimond girls basketball team concluded the Gator Winter Classic on Wednesday with a run through the silver bracket culminating in a finals win.
The Lynx beat beat Moapa Valley of Overton, Nevada, 40-36 with an all-around defensive effort.
Alexis Shipman led scorers with an 18-point, 15-rebound double-double and Victoria Johansen chipped in 10 points for the Lynx.
Moapa Valley was led by Tapanga Durham with 11 points and Kinlee Marshall with 9.
Earlier in the day, Dimond beat White Pine of Ely, Nevada, 62-36.
Whitney Shapp led all scorers with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Lynx. Johansen sparked Dimond on defense with five steals.
Ashlyn Huntington had 17 points for White Pine.

The Dimond girls beat host team Yosemite 68-47 Monday to start round robin play at the Gator Winter Classic in Henderson, Nevada.
Maya Carle powered the Lynx with 20 points and newcomer Alexis Shipman added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Yosemite was led by Allie Stearns with 26 points and five rebounds.
Dimond continued Monday with a 59-51 loss to Mainland Basketball Academy, a team from New Zealand. Dimond led by nine at halftime before a stout Mainland defense turned the game around in the second half.
Whitney Shapp led Dimond with 15 points and Maya Carle put in 12.
Mainland was led by Paige Willmen with 11 and Sapphire Wairau added 10. The duo nailed two key 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.
On Tuesday, the Lynx fell to Spring Valley (Las Vegas) 66-42. Shapp led Dimond again with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Spring Valley’s Kayla Harris led all scorers with 23 points.
Also on Tuesday, Dimond beat Durango of Las Vegas 55-32.
Maya Carle poured in 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Lynx. Alexis Shipman added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Brittany Romo led the Trailblazers with 11 points, 10 coming in the second half.
Dimond returns to the court Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. against White Pine of Ely, Nevada.
