The Oakville Seals loaded up the bus and traveled to Carman to square off with the Cougars on Saturday afternoon coming away with a spirited 8-5 victory. Christopher Topfer was solid in goal for Oakville, who started slowly but eventually took control of the game. Trailing 2-0 after the opening period, Jack Holmes notched his first of two goals to pull the Seals within one, but Carman responded and built up a 4-3 heading into the third period despite goals from Cam Sarna and Maddox Shindle. Any questions surrounding the Seals ability to play through fatigue in the third period were answered emphatically as they ripped five goals by the Carman goalie including Colby Nikkel's first of the season. Taylor Klaassen's steadying influence on defence made a big difference in the final frame as did the tenacity of Tristan "Domi" Blight and Jackson Lee. Daehan Butler created several good scoring chances including firing wide on a partial breakaway midway through the game.
Next action for the Seals is this Saturday when they host Highway 13 rivals Elm Creek at high noon.
