7th Annual “Tyler’s Team” Charity Poker Classic

Recently, the 7th Annual “TYLERS TEAM” Charity Poker Classic was held at the Palm Beach Kennel Club.  Players started arriving at 11:30am to check in and register for the event, while others were heading to the beautiful buffet while mingling in the crowd and purchasing their 50/50 raffle tickets. TMF President, Kevin McLellan started the day off thanking everyone in attendance for their support with various sponsors in attendance at the tables. At 1:15, it was “cards in the air” as all players sat down to play poker to see who would win the cash prize, $580.00 buy-in to the World Series of Poker in 2017, and the “Tyler’s Cup” trophy.  All players that knocked out the bounties were each given gift cards to various local restaurants and businesses.  Every player also had a chance to win special prizes which included four tickets to Palm Beach International Raceways “Super Chevy Show” and more.

In attendance sitting at the tables, we saw former Miami Dolphin Bob Brudzinski with last year’s winner Scott Cadmus, Ante Up Poker Magazine and Poker Action Line radio show host Dave Lemmon, along with many sponsors, loyal supporters as well as friends of the foundation at the event.  McLellan said; “this is a charity tournament, we want people to come in eat, relax, and have fun while playing, this is a great event for everyone, we have our loyal supporting players who have been here since the first tournament in 2011and we see them here every year, and we have our new players experiencing the event for the first time who are glad they came to the event.  This year, like last we noticed more women entering the event than in past years and in the end, it was the females that came out to play with the boy’s again like last year. The final table saw Jackie Stone of Port St Lucie (1^st Female & 2015 Winner) taking it all the way to ninth place and Erin Coley of Lake Worth (2^nd place 2016) grinding her way to seventh place.

During the first break it was Sam Hollis telling folks, “I haven’t won a trophy since I was eleven years old and I want that trophy”.  Sam got his wish that Sunday afternoon as he grinded through the field and took home the winners cash, WSOP ticket and the 2017 “Tyler’s Cup”.
