Essay Contest for Students
The Evening Optimist Club of Sacramento is encouraging area students to contemplate the phrase “Is Optimism the Key to Achieving the Dreams you iMagine?” as part of the Optimist International Essay Contest for the 2019-2020 school year.
The Optimist Club will judge the local students’ essays, based on the theme of “Is Optimism the Key to Achieving the Dreams you iMagine?” and determine the top winners. Winners will receive $200 for 1st place, $100 for 2nd, and $50 for 3rd. The winning essays will be sent to the district level where college scholarships are available for top winners. The District level award will be a $2500 scholarship.
One requirement is that applicants must be under the age of 19 as of October 1, 2019 (And not enrolled as degree seeking student in a post-secondary institution) in the United States, Canada, or the Caribbean. There is no minimum age limit meaning students who are not in the 12th grade may also apply. The deadline to submit the essay is February 15, 2020.
