A walk-off walk led West Lincoln Rebel Varsity past East Gaston HS 2-1 on Monday. The game was tied at one with West Lincoln Rebel Varsity batting in the bottom of the eighth when Logan Russell walked Chase Benfield to drive in a run. This ended a strong on both sides as hurlers for West Lincoln Rebel Varsity struck out eight, while East Gaston HS pitchers sat down seven. Dalton Brooks started the game for West Lincoln Rebel Varsity. He threw seven innings, allowing one run, six hits, and striking out eight. But it was Seth Willis who earned his first varsity win for West Lincoln Rebel Varsity. He tossed one inning, surrendering zero runs, zero hits, and walking zero. Josh Benfield took the loss for East Gaston HS. He threw seven innings, surrendering two runs, six hits, and striking out seven.
West Lincoln Rebel Varsity captured the lead in the first inning, scoring one run when Logan Carpenter singled with one out in the first inning. This brought home Parker Chapman who had beat out an infield hit earlier in the inning.
In the top of the fifth inning, East Gaston HS tied things up at one. With one out in the fifth inning Matt Jonas drove in one run when he doubled. Jonas went 1-for-4 at the plate as he led the team with one run batted in. The game remained tied through 7 innings of regulation.
Brett Eurey, Dylan Burkey, Parker Chapman, Dallas Bridges, Carpenter, and Chase Benfield all had one hit to lead West Lincoln Rebel Varsity.
