Batavia High School is located in Batavia, NY. Batavia High School has been around since the early 1900's as has the baseball program. Batavia baseball has a distinguished reputation for successful baseball seasons, year in and year out most recently winning the Section V Class B Sectional Championship in 2019 under former Head Coach Rick Saunders. Coach Daniel A. Vandetta was the first recognized Batavia baseball coach and had a successful career winning multiple Sectional Championships in various classes throughout his tenure. Vandetta was the coach from 1948-1971. Coach Pep Johnson began his coaching career after playing under Vandetta and continued to build the programs success. Coach Johnson's hard work and dedication led to many successful seasons with his teams being crowned as Sectional Champions in 1980, 1991, 1994 and 1998 which was his final season. Coach Rick Saunders began his tenure in 1999 where he maintained the standard of excellence. Saunders led his teams to 9 sectional championship games over his career ultimately leading to a Section V Class B Sectional Championship in 2019. The Batavia Baseball program has a proud tradition as a result of the leadership from such great coaches in Vandetta, Johnson and Saunders.
