We have had great success over the years including 21 district championships, 13 State Final Four Appearances, 4 State Runner-Ups in 2004, 2011, 2014 and 2017 and 3 State Championships in 2003, 2012 and 2013. In 2013 we were also honored as National Champions by four different publications (USA Today, CBS MaxPreps, Collegiate Baseball and Student Sports FAB 50) after finishing the season undefeated with 30 wins. We played in the state championship game in four consecutive seasons (2011-2014). We have qualified for the state playoff series for 24 consecutive seasons (1998-2019), second longest active streak in state history (Westminster Christian 32). Additionally, we advanced to a regional final in 14 consecutive seasons (2002-2015), which is a state record, and advanced to the final four in 9 of those 14 seasons. In 2014 Catholic held the distinction of having the longest winning streak in the country at 43 wins. During the 2023 season, 11 of our alumni are still playing either collegiately or professionally and 10 more are still involved in the game through coaching or umpiring.
We will be led by head coach Richard LaBounty. Coach retired in the fall of 2016 after his 33rd season as head coach with a career record of 717-228-1, all as the head coach of the Crusaders. He was named the National Coach of the Year by USA Today and MaxPreps following the perfect 2013 campaign. He has also been named the Florida Dairy Farmer's Coach of the Year on multiple occasions. He continues in his role as Athletic Director also, a position he has held over five decades.
As always, this year's team enters the season with high expectations and lofty goals.
Please come out and support the Crusaders and spread the word about this website. If you haven't been by the field in a few years you may not recognize the place! There have been many improvements and upgrades over the years, as you can see from the pictures below that date back to the early 1980s. We try to make it a special place and a special experience for our student athletes and for our fans. We hope to see you at the ballpark soon. Thank you for your support of Catholic Baseball!
