Optimist Coach Selection Process:
* The Optimist Committee and Coordinator review a list of potential high school area coaches who have not been previously selected as an Optimist Head Coach. The honor of being selected is based on their experience, coaching interpersonal skills, community outreach, and their overall character.
Optimist All Star Player Selection Process:
* The Optimist Coordinator contacts the schools from both the North & South list for boys and girls, requesting that the staff submit nominations, which is applicable only to current year graduating student-athletes.
* Nominations outline the nominee's high school achievements and honors, statistics via MAX Preps, and supporting statements why the candidate should be selected to participate as an Optimist All Star.
* The Optimist Committe then review s the submitted nominations, as well as an internal potential All Star list that is comprised from media reports and scouting reports.
* This combined list is then reviewed by a Selection Committee for final selection & roster compilation.
Note: The previous process invited coaches to submit nominations and then attend a selection meeting. Occassionally coaches with well known candidates weren't able to attend this meeting thus disqualifying their candidate from selection. This process has now been replaced with a Committee to review the validity of a nominee to be cosidered a ture Optimist All Star in a closed and structured panel.
