STILL CHASING THE DREAM....

Pacific Coast Baseball League

It ïs every boy's dream to grow up and play Major League baseball for his home team. Only a few actually get the opportunity to pursue their dream profession, and even fewer actually play for their home team. But a local 8-year-old boy doesnt understand the law of averages, and nothing is going to stop him from attaining his goal of playing for the Dodgers or Angels.
So he plays Little League, makes the All-Star teams, starts on his high school Varsity team, goes on to play college ball and gives the draft a shot, but comes away with only an education. Bummer! With his dream officially over, and the nightmare of the working man's reality barreling down on him, our dreamer is in for a rude awakening.
So what happens to all of the dreamers? They can't all end up in sports journalism. And if your name isn't Kevin Costner, Billy Crystal or Garth Brooks, you probably won't be invited to take batting practice with the Yankees or any BigLeague squad. Fear not! Slo-pitch softball is not your

only option.

In 1993, James DuPrey founded the Pacific Coast Baseball League (PCBL), which offers an organized alternative to softball, Over-the-Line, or doctoring your birth certificate so you can re-enter junior college with four years of eligibility.

The PCBL has 4 divisions to accommodate three different levels of competition. The Single A is the recommended entry-level league. Enter here if you have a young team. (for PCBL purposes, "young" refers to longevity of teams existence, and not to chronological age of its members). The Double A distinguishes itself with a higher caliber of pitching and steadier defense. The cream of the crop can be found in the Triple A and Major League Divisions. They have fewer teams than the others, but contains the highest talent level.

Teams play on Sundays, and show up to win. The games are held at a variety of local college and high schools, and are officiated by two CIF certified umpires.
Players understand the game with in the game. For example, it is rare for a left-handed hitter to come to the plate without the catcher or manager realizing it and announcing to his teammates: "Lefty!"
O.K., so some of these guys never mentally matured past Little League, but with uniforms and crotch adjustments that would rival any big league club, the Pacific Coast Baseball League is a great way to live out your dream, while balancing reality Monday through Friday.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Pacific Coast Baseball League was developed with the belief that individuals should have the opportunity to play baseball and participate in team sports in an organized and competitive manner, and to provide the respect that baseball as a sport deserves.

WHAT IS PACIFIC COAST BASEBALL?

Since 1993, the Pacific Coast Baseball League remains the premier adult baseball league in Southern California. We run five seasons and two tournaments each year. We provide a venue to 120+ teams and over 2,500 players to develop their skills while maintaining good sportsmanship, teamwork and competitive baseball in a fun and exciting format.

We are a non-profit adult sports organization and your registration covers field rental, baseballs, insurance, officials, staff, equipment cost and operating expenses. Season rates may increase occasionally to off-set rate increases for field rental (school district mandated by law) and insurance costs. Your tax deductible contributions for team sponsorship are greatly appreciated and help cover the cost of fields, trophies & league website.

Our Spring/Summer Season starts in February with tryouts and 4 weekends of pre-season scrimmages to get the kinks out and look at some new players. League play begins in March with play-offs and the Championship Games in August. The season is scheduled for 18 weeks on Sundays plus two rounds of Play-offs and the Championship. There is also an All-Star Game for every division played in late June. Your team fee includes everything except umpires fees which are $80 per game.

PCBL also has a Fall Season starting the first weekend after Labor Day in September and ends in mid November. The Fall Season is scheduled for 10 league games plus two rounds of Play-offs and a Championship.

Major League and Triple A Divisions (AAA): ADVANCED PLAY
Primarily for players with college level or higher experience
Includes pros, ex-pros, college and high school varsity players

Double A Division (AA): INTERMEDIATE PLAY
Primarily for players with varsity high school experience

Single A Division (A): ENTRY-LEVEL PLAY

Good for players who haven't played hardball recently but looking to get back into the game
