About the PVHS Trojan Wrestling

The Paradise Valley Wrestling team is located in North Phoenix and has made some major strides in the last 5 years since Coach Butterfield arrived. The addition of Coach Schneider, Coach Atkins, and Coach Nielsen to the Trojan Wrestling staff has been critical to their success over this period of time. In the last 5 years, PV has had 14 state qualifiers, 3 state placers (Trayvin Cato - 170, Alec Delafield - 138, Joey Lopez - 106) and one undefeated State Champion (Trayvin Cato/52-0/2017 State Champion). In 2019 PV qualified 7 for the state tournament, which is the most in the last decade for the team. Their success continues to grow as the team grows while always setting the standard with a culture of hard work and dedication. Our team works hard in the offseason as well as we have had several freestyle and greco state placers, and have had several wrestlers represent the Arizona National Team and qualify for the Fargo National Tournament for Freestyle and Greco in North Dakota. Between our coaches on staff and our volunteer assistant coaches in the room, we currently have 6 former college wrestlers on staff with several states around the country represented by them (Illinois/Iowa/New Jersey/California/Oklahoma). We are looking to continue growing as a force in the wrestling community in the state of Arizona, and dedicate ourselves to the sport that has done so much for us. We truly believe in the saying "Once you have wrestled, everything else in life is easy", as the sport teaches lessons about life and dealing with adversity on and off the mat. We hope to continue our success, and if you have any questions regarding our school or wrestling team, please contact Coach Butterfield via his email at mbutterfield@pvlearners.net
