About the Rebel Baseball

West Lincoln High School opened up in the fall of 1961 as a merger between the two communities of Northbrook and Union.  The school is located at the intersection of Highway 27 and Shoal Road about 9 miles west of the Court Square in Lincolnton.  The school enrollment is generally between 900 and 1000 students, placing West Lincoln in the Southern Pieldmont A/AA Conference.

West Lincoln Baseball began in the spring of 1962.  West Lincoln tied Cherryville for the school's first conference championship in 1982, but because only one team went to the playoffs, the Rebels did not make their first playoff appearance until the next conference championship in 2000.  That season and the 2002 season the Rebels we able to win district championships and more importantly pave the way for future teams to have continued success in the NC State Playoffs.  West Lincoln has since added conference championship in 2007, 2008, 2011 and again in 2013.  West Lincoln played in back-to-back Regionals in 2006 and 2007 and was one game away from a third Regional appearance in 2009.  Since that initial playoff win in 2000, the Rebels have managed to win more than 20 playoff games and become one of the most successful AA programs in Western North Caronlina.
