4/24/2007Isotopes Nuke Mudhens
Game 6
The Mudhens started the offense early against the Isotopes, but faltered quickly. The cold and rain could not be considered to be factors in this contest, as the Isotopes hit everything and every pitcher thrown into the mix. The Hens started the game with a 2 run Homerun by the starting pitcher Jeremy Basis, and took the lead. That lead soon vanished as the opposing pitcher also put one into the bleachers, for a 2-run shot, taking the lead 4-2. The Isotopes did not look back from there, and continued a trouncing of the Mudhens, handing them their 3rd loss in 6 games, 16-6. Ouch!
Game Highlights:
Jeremy Basis 2-3 with 2HRs and 3 RBI
Brian Buckethead Gross kept his hit streak alive at 5, and went 2-3 with an RBI single that nearly took my head off.

Game 5
The Mudhens, coming off of a 3 game winless streak managed to come together for a few innings to beat the Indians. The outcome of the game was known before the first pitch, but the Mudhens were slow to come out of the box. It took 4 innings before the Mudhens got onto the scoreboard. Thanks to a stellar pitching performance by Bobby Musgrove, with 12 K's in 6 innings, the hens pulled it out. The offense was led by SS/DH Tim Anders with a great hitting display; going 4 for 4 and leading the team with 5 RBI's. Way to go Timmy! The game winning hit went to Buckethead, and kept his hitting streak going (4 games). You the man Buckethead, you the man.

I misssed the game so leave me alone already.

Game 3
The mudhens push their record to 1-2 with a disappointing showing at Granada Hills High.
The Hens started out flat and continued to show a lack-lustre approach to the game throughout. I am sure that more than one of the boys on the team felt irritated by the calls made by the umpiring crew and annoyed by crowd bantering that wouln't cease from one fan, now nicknamed 'Fozzy' (a-woka-woka-woka).
Down by the score of 10-2, the Mudhens did rally at the end to come within striking distance only trailing by 4 in the bottom of the ninth, but when the Beers brought in the Fireballer to close the game, the hens fell in a 1-2-3 inning.
Highlights this week included 3 spectacular catches by LF Mark Freeberg, and a 2-run Homer to left center field hit by SS Alan Johnson.
3/26/2007Mudhens Bitten by Dogs
Game 2
In a season that had the Mudhens longing for an undefeated record, they fall in only their second game of the season. The Dogs, an inferior team, capitalized on Mudhen mistakes throughout the game to quash any hopes of going undefeated.
Game Highlights :
Bobby Musgrove hit an opposite field homerun and a long double that one hopped the wall. Looks like the power is back on track
Kurt Larson went 3 for 4
Next Week:
We are playing at Granada Hills High School against the Beers at 2PM. Hopefully our errors and pitching will be more like usual. See you Sunday!
