2011 Season

Churchville scored minutes into the game and wouldn't look back scoring 2 more times before the half.  Spartan errors would cost them in the second half as they would go onto lose 6 - 0.  Chris Hoecker was Olympia's player of the game anchoring the defense and cutting down the Churchville attack numerous times while controlling the air.

Olympia came out ready to play today as they played Athena even for 20 minutes before an unlucky goal for the Spartans gave the Trojans a 1 - 0 lead heading into halftime.  The Spartans would score in the 55th minute to tie the game before the goal was called off due to an offsides.  In the 60th minute Olympia would have a few players go down with injuries and Athena would take advantage scoring 2 quick ones on their way to a 3 - 0 lead.  The Trojans would go onto win 6 - 0 in this divisional rivalry match.

Greece Arcadia scored in the 6th minute of the game to give the Titans a 1 - 0 lead early.  Dylan Frank made some outstanding saves and was saved by the post and crossbar a couple times to keep the score at 1 - 0 at the half.  Arcadia would again come out and score quickly making the game 2 - 0 on a nice shot from outside the 18 that hit side netting.  Olympia would play the Titans fairly even for the remainder of the half before Arcadia finished their scoring with a PK awarded to a Titan after Dylan Frank came out to make a save and bodied the offensive player off the ball in the box.  Chris Hoecker was again stellar in the back also hitting a lasor that would skid off the post late in the game.  with the 3- 0  loss to Arcadia, the Spartans fall to 0 - 3 heading into their non-league match with Monroe-Edison on Wednesday.

After both teams struggled to finish scoring opportunities early in the game....Olympia would have a miscommunication in the back that would lead to a goal giving the Red Jackets a 1 to nil halftime lead.  Olympia would respond in the second half as Ian Lenz Emmi would deflect a Tremaine Young pass into the goal at the 50th minute.  Not 60 seconds later, Tremaine would break down the left flank to rip a shot near post to score the golden goal for the Spartans!  Chris Hoecker locked up the game with just over 1 minute remaining as he hit a lasor up over the wall that dipped below the crossbar to give the Spartans a final score of 3 - 1.  Congratulations to both Ian Lenz Emmi and Tremaine Young on scoring their first varsity goals as Spartans.

Spencerport scored early and often as they dominated the first half to a 5 - 0 lead at intermission.  Olympia would have some better play in the second half and some of the second team players were able to see the field and have some success, though the score at the final whistle was Spencerport 8 - Olympia 0.  Shane Trost came into the game at goalkeeper in the second half and made some very nice saves.  Olympia moves to 1 - 4 on the season.

The Spartans finally started a game strong playing Brockport even for the first 20 minutes as Dylan Frank made numerous saves to keep Olympia in the game.  The defense held strong until Brockport played a quick corner to which the Spartans were slow to react and the Blue Devils sniped a blistering shot upper ninety to give them a 1 - 0 lead with 17:46 remaining in the first half.  The Blue devils would strike again right before the half as Olympia struggled to clear a corner kick and Brockport slipped one under a diving Dylan Frank to give the home team a 2 - 0 halftime lead.  Brockport wasted no time in the 2nd half scoring 4 more goals in the first 17 minutes.  Shane Trost would come into the game with just under 25 minutes remaining and make some nice saves as the Spartans would go onto lose 8 - 0 under the lights at Brockport.

The Greece Olympia Spartans played their strongest game yet against a tough divisional foe Thursday night.  Gates came into the match at 2-3-1 while the underdog Spartans were 1-5-0.  Both teams battled in the first half with each team getting 3 shots on net while the keepers were up to the task making worthy saves to send the game into the half at zero's a side.  Olympia would come out in the second half as well as they did in the first creating numerous scoring chances off restarts though unable to finish. Dylan frank made back to back diving saves with just over 15 minutes remaining in the game to give the Spartans a chance.  Gates would finally break through beating a defender on the wing and taking it endline to slip it past Dylan.  Gates would close the door with 2 minutes left as a suspect hand ball was called in the box giving Gates a PK, which they blasted home for a 2 - 0 victory.  Dylan Frank was outstanding in goal making 15 saves while the Spartan defense as a whole played their best game yet.

Olympia started the game strong winning 3 corner kicks in the first 5 minutes, but it would be all down hill from there.  Hilton would lead 2-0 at the half and go onto win the game by a score of 6-0.  Ben Schreiber would score 4 goals while Olympia couldn't get anything going offensively.  Olympia falls to 1-7 while Hilton improves to 1-7.

The Spartans earned their 2nd win of the season Tuesday night bouncing back nicely from a dissappointing defeat against Hilton the night before.  The Spartans legs held up long enough to give them a 3 - 1 win over Charlotte in the non-league match.  Dylan Frank was outstanding in goal and would have notched his first career shutout had it not been for a controversial goal with 55 seconds left in the game...scored after the whistle had blown.  Chris Hoecker lifted the Spartans to victory once again scoring the first two goals.  He would make the score 1 - 0 at the half as he hit a lasor from 30 yards out that the keeper could not handle. He would strike again in the first minute of the second half scoring with his head off a corner kick from Mike Roby.   Mike would then finish the scoring for Olympia following up a shot from Samir Bensalama on the left wing and blasting it home to give the spartans a 3 - 0 lead.  The game would end Olympia 3 - Charlotte 1 to move Olympia's record to 2 - 7 overall climbing the ranks for sectionals.

The Spartans lost to Churchville Chili by a score of 4 - 0 on a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon.  With a messy field, Olympia came out strong controlling play for the first 10 minutes.  Tremaine Young almost put the spartans on the board first as his well hit header missed the post by less than a foot.  Churchville would get the first tally on a counter in the 10th minute slipping one past Shane Trost into the back of the net.  Dylan Frank would enter the game shortly after and stood on his head making great save after great save.  The Saints would add two more due to poor marking weak side by the Spartans before half and then get a final score early in the second half to give them a 4 - 0 victory.  Outside defender Nick Oliveri continued his strong play in the back as a junior.  Mike Roby was our offensive player of the game with physical play up top and building on some effective combinations in the midfield.  The Spartans fall to 2 - 8 on the season.

Olympia lost to Athena by a score of 7 - 1.  After keeping the game scoreless through 27 minutes Athena would pour in 3 goals within a span of 2 minutes to take a 3 - 0 lead.  They would lead 4 - 0 at the half and then score another quick goal in the first couple minutes of the 2nd half to take a 5 - 0 lead.  Olympia would gather itself and start to play better soccer going back and forth for the next 20 minutes until Athena scored again on a header.  Olympia would score its first goal in league play as Jimmy Seeger would score his first goal as a varsity soccer player assisted by Robin Rodriguez with just over 10 minutes to play.  The final score would be 7 - 1.  Dylan made 14 saves in net for the Spartans who move to 2 - 9 overall.

Olympia had its opportunities in this one, but couldn't find the back of the net.  Arcadia took the lead 30 minutes in on a ball played to a diving Titan on the backdoor who headed it home for a 1 - 0 lead at the half.  Dylan Frank got back into order in this one making 15 saves and keeping the Spartans within striking distance.  Olympia had multiple opportunities on indirect and direct kicks that Chris Hoecker played dangerously into the box.  Arcadia locked up the game with 5 minutes left working through the defense and scoring their final goal to win 2 - 0.

Olympia fell to a very talented Rangers team Wednesday night under the lights at Rangers Stadium.  Spencerport came out swinging early and often as potential player of the year Brandon Bianchi scored on a rebound and with his head to give the Rangers a 2 - 0 lead.  Spencerport would score again with about 15 minutes left in the half but Dylan Frank would make some great saves to keep the score at 3 - 0.  The Rangers were just as lethal early in the second half scoring 3 quick goals and taking the lead at 6 - 0 with just over 30 minutes to play in the game.  Dylan Frank and Chris Hoecker would play strong games defensively and Eric Bonsignore would play strong in the middle helping the Spartans with more of a balanced attack in the final 30 minutes.  Dylan Frank had 15 saves for the Spartans who fall to 2 - 11.

Olympia's 2011 senior night was a tough one.  Brockport scored 2 goals in the first 5 minutes and kept rolling from there.  Olympia had 2 shots on goal and really had few scoring opportunities.  Dylan Frank struggled in goal to keep his footing on a sloppy pitch, but would record 17 saves on the evening.  Olympia falls to 2 - 12 on the season.

Olympia lost a close one Tuesday night at Gates Chili by a score of 5 - 1.  The Spartans trailed 2-1 at the half after Chris Hoecker scored his team leading 4th goal of the season with his head on a corner kick from Mike Roby.  Dylan Frank kept the Spartans in the game making a season high 20 saves on the night.

The Spartans came out strong in each half jumping on top early...but were unable to hold on late.  Olympia's Mike Roby made a great move past a defender and was taken down in the box being awarded a PK.  Chris Hoecker slammed the PK home giving the Spartans a 1 - 0 lead just minutes into the game.  Hilton, with a strong wind at their back would score in the 20th minute, but Dylan Frank's top notch play in goal kept the game tied at the half.  Chris Hoecker would strike again in the 41st minute with a fast break goal that he struck with the outside of his foot past a diving Hilton keeper.  Olympia held onto the lead until the 50th minute, when Hilton scored on a header.  The Cadets would score 4 more in the next 15 minutes to take the momentum and the game.  The spartans finish the regular season 2 - 14 and will head into sectionals as the 12th seed to face Aquinas for a second straight year.

Aquinas jumped out of the gate and didn't look back in this pre-quarterfinal sectional match that pitted the same two teams that played last year.  Aquinas topped the Spartans last year by a score of 5 - 0 and would go on to win the 2011 match by a score of 8 - 0.  The Spartans were lead with strong play from senior captain Chris Hoecker and senior Samir Bensalama.  Dylan Frank made 13 saves in goal while senior goalie Shane Trost would make 3 saves in the final 10 minutes of play.  The Spartans finished the season 2 - 15.
