I would recommend Gordon for repairing a baseball or softball glove. Not only does Gordon give back to the community, with his donations of gloves to the U.S. military and foster children, he has a genuine love of the game and puts that into every glove he repairs. He takes his time in explaining what the repair entails and delivers.

My 15 year old son's glove was literally coming apart at the seams. He had strings hanging down from several spots on the glove along with webbing coming apart at the contact points. We were thinking of just purchasing a new glove, when I was recommended to Gordon regarding bringing a glove in and giving him a look. He said he could restring it and replace the webbing, break it in and recondition it. That was an understatement. It looks brand new! My son loved the glove and couldn't believe it when he saw it. Just amazing handy work and we couldn't be happier with the results! Definitely recommended to all of our baseball family on my son's teams!

I was referred by Rawlings to contact Mr. King to repair my 1st baseman glove. I sent him my glove and when I got it back it was repaired beyond what I expected! It is like a new glove! I would highly recommend sending your glove to him before you buy a new one.

I greatly appreciate your help with my 18 yr old sons first base glove. I paid $350 for that rawlings glove just 2-3 years ago and was disheartened by the two different rips and tears. I had already bought another glove when my son kept telling me it just wasn't the same as the glove he used to have. I called rawlings and they gave me your name and company information. They ramped and raved about you and what you can do with any glove. Within just a few weeks after I sent out the glove, you sent it back in pristine condition. I sent Gordon a brand new Rawlings Pro Preferred glove for a quick breaking in before a baseball tournament I was playing in with my adult baseball league. I didn't give him much turn around time before the tournament to get the glove done, but Gordon made it happen. One of the great things about working with a small business is the personal touch they put into their work. Gordon, via text and phone kept me apprised about the progress of my glove. He broke it in and got it back to me in time for my tournament. I would highly recommend A1 glove repair for any work on any of my gloves. I let my teammates know that if they need work done on their baseball gloves Gordon is the man to go to. You get great work for great value.

Do not buy a new glove until you talk to Mr. King! Flat out, Mr. Gordon King is an artist!
My 13 yr. old son needed his catcher's mitt and fielding glove restrung, and couple of other issues we didn't even know about. He put the glove on and kept feeling, working, and moving the mitt. After educating my son, as well as myself, on gloves and many, many cool things, we took Gordon's advice, suggestions and knowledge, and had him do what he does. My son's catcher's mitt was not only restrung, but it ended up being customed to fit my son's hand 'like a glove'. Now when receiving, the ball sticks in the mitt and my son says it feels broken in better and good around his wrist and he just loves it. Huge difference.
He even met us to drop it off so he would have it for a tryout. Next thing you know, we dropped of his fielding glove, which Gordon even dyed the strings, and also my old glove. Both our gloves were restrung and re-padded. We both love them, And will be going back soon to have them broken in. Just as the name says 'A1 Glove Repair'

Thank you for the great job you did repairing/restoring my Dave Kingman softball glove. You not only repaired the glove, but also restored it at a price that was unbelievable. The extra padding in the pocket reduced the sting on line drives and the new lacing and oil treatment makes the glove look great. I also appreciated you restoring my 1964 Al Kaline little league glove. The restoration took out all the stiffness and is now something I can proudly pass on to the next generation. I am still in search of the Eric Davis mitt to replace the one stolen from a relative.
Being Veteran's Day weekend I also want to commend you on your ongoing dedication to send repaired gloves to our service men and women overseas. I am sure they appreciate your gesture and the time invested into providing them "back home" fun.

Just a note to thank you Gordon for bringing my 40+ year old infielder glove back to life. I was surprised at the turn-around time (within a week and a half!). Feel free to unclude my comments with your testimonials. Not only was my glove completely restrung but he added padding - what a difference! Oh yeh, the new Rawlings logo patch was a nice touch and gave it a brand new look! I also bought a new outfielder glove and after weeks of trying to break it in, he shared his expertise regarding the reason I was unsuccessful at softening the glove. Gordon runs a business the old fashioned way. Fast, friendly and reasonable. I dropped off my 40 year old fielders glove for repair and wound up talking with Gordon for almost an hour like we were old friends. My glove was done in a few days and better than new. I called you on a Saturday July 15th early in the morning after my glove strings snapped Friday night. Found Gordon & A1 Glove Repair online while looking for someone to relace my son's catchers mitt. I had concerns about mailing the glove to someone I had not met but did so anyway. Gordon made the glove look like new, and relaced with thicker laces and added padding. My son just loves the glove! I want to thank you for the great work performed on my son’s Rawlings, Primo glove. When we began looking for a quality shop to perform the work I started locally. I soon discovered there was no one in our area that would relace the glove, so we called the manufacturer - Rawlings in St Louis, MO. After a short conversation with a customer service employee, it was pointed out that there are only a couple places in the states they would recommend to have this work performed. One of the businesses is A1 Glove Repair in Ohio. My son called and spoke with you about the project. Zach was excited after the conversation because he had finally found someone that understood the importance of what his glove meant to him. Still a little apprehensive about sending an expensive glove half way across the country, I called to confirm all of the particulars. You exceeded my expectations as well. You provided step by step instructions for shipping and even called once you received the glove. I was confident we made a good choice.

I met Gordon King at a girls fastpitch softball tournament. My 15yr olds daughters beloved glove had broken! We were at a tournament, in the middle of the game. I approached him in desperation to see if it was at repairable. Gordon worked his magic, and in about and hour, he had it fixed! This situation happened in June and the mitt is still going strong! We are so appreciative. Gordon really came to the rescue!

I play in a competitive 65 plus softball league known as the The Babes of 1916. I learned of Gordon from a guy in the league who raved about his work. I had my old Regent glove that I used as a kid that needed some major work to restore it. I wanted to have it in restored working condition so it could be once again used and to pass it along to my grandson who is an excellent player and will be a junior in high school beginning this next fall. I took this glove and my grandson's glove (which only needed to be relaced because the web lacing plastic failed) to Gordon for repair. Because my 1960s vintage glove needed extensive work, it took Gordon approximately a week to complete but it was worth the wait. I have since got both gloves back and he did a bang up job. I have even used my old glove to test out Gordon's work. In fact he did such a great job it actually needs some breaking in again. Amazing work from a guy who is the most knowledgeable person on gloves, leathers, steers and cows I have ever met.
I highly recommend contacting him with any gloves repairs you may need. Also, before you throw any of your old gloves out even if they are in bad shape, give them to Gordon. He will fix them and send them on to the troops overseas for their use when they happen to have any free time while they are stationed overseas on duty. He does all this at his expense for our soldiers.

I just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you for repairing my son's glove and loaning out the amazing YAK glove. Gordon repaired my son's baseball glove the same day I called. Since we were in the middle of the baseball season he was willing to do the work on the same day since I really couldn't leave it with him. He went above and beyond what I expected him to do. Even though the stitching was coming off in a small area he restitched the entire glove to tighten up the loose ends. He was very informed of the type of material & hides that were used in the glove and what new materials he put into the glove. Lastly, he was very reasonable with what he charged. While cleaning out the basement a couple of years ago I found my old baseball glove (a Rawlings purchased in 1972) in a box and realized that it was in need of some repair. I set it aside and told myself that some day I should get it repaired and refurbished. Last summer while reading Crain’s I came across the article regarding Mr. King and his business A1 Glove Repair. Remembering that my old glove needed some work I reached out to Mr. King, he quoted me a price, gave me shipping instructions and I finally shipped it to him. After 10 days or so, I received the glove back in better than new condition and now plan to do give it to my grandson.
If you are in need of someone to take care of your old glove I totally recommend Mr. King and his business A1 Glove Repair.

My husband was a Vietnam veteran who LOVED baseball. He suffered from neuropathy for the last 20 years and his softball playing days were ended long ago. He kept his glove for all those years and when he passed away suddenly last month I wasn't sure what to do with the glove. I came upon your story in the news while researching for some place to donate baseball equipment, and I immediately knew I had to send it to you.

I contacted Mr.King after my son's glove laces broke during a game. Another team mom shared that she had a great experience with Gordon and praised the repair he had completed on her son's glove. He was very prompt in returning my call. Gordon was extremely accommodating to my hectic schedule. I was able to drop off the glove and pick it up the same day. Upon pick it up, he provided quite an education about baseball gloves and my son was also impressed not only with his knowledge but his craft. The repair was amazing and the glove looked beautiful. We will definitely be back as needed, sharing what we learned with other baseball families. The Cleveland area baseball community is extremely lucky to have Gordon King in our backyards! I met Gordon at a softball tournament this weekend and he fixed my glove. I thought he did a really nice job fixing it. He did more than he needed to, but he was very reasonable and he did it quickly so I could have it for the rest of my games. I love how he fixed my glove. He did an awesome job!

I am a 75-year-old infielder who plays in a very competitive old-timers league. At a practice on Friday morning, a hard line drive went through my Nokona glove, and when I looked at the glove I saw that several of the laces at the fingertips had broken, so the glove was essentially useless. I Googled "baseball glove repair Cleveland" and found A1 Glove Repair. I called the number shown and spoke with Gordon King, who sensed my anxiety over not having the glove in time for Monday's practice.
Gordon suggested I meet him at a cafe about 20 minutes away, and he would fix the top laces on the spot. When he examined the glove, he showed me that some of the webbing laces were also broken, and he then took the glove mostly apart and performed a breathtaking repair job on it. I was fascinated by Gordon's exceptional knowledge of how the glove was made and what to do to make it better than new.
I plan to let all the players in my league know about Gordon and A-1 Glove Repair. It has been a wonderful experience to find such a craftsman with the knowledge and experience to handle a difficult repair job so quickly and efficiently. I will never use any other glove repair person. Gordon is simply the best!

In this age of “throw-away” products, Gordon is a true artisan. A1 Glove Repair did a great job restoring our family catchers mitt. The personal service and attention to the detail is fantastic. I gave my childhood glove to my son to use in a softball league. When one of the stings broke my wife searched the internet for someone to replace the strings. A1 Glove Repair is what she found. I went looking to get my old high school glove repaired as I joined a slow pitch league. Going to A1 Glove Repair I didn't know what to expect as I knew my glove needed some work. Talking to Gordon I was amazed at his knowledge of what a glove entails and what he planned to do to my glove. I left excited and couldn't wait to see it. I have four kids and he was so flexible with my schedule. When I brought my kids with me I was so impressed with how comfortable they were listening to baseball stories. In the summer of 2016 my glove decided to split right in half. Having been to multiple people prior, in an attempt to fix, the glove just would not stay in tact. I happened to stumble upon Gordon's name in a conversation I overheard happening between a gentleman and my mother. As soon as we contacted Gordon he responded to our problem. And with almost immediate turn around, my glove was fixed for longer than a temporary solution. I can honestly say every time I get to stop by his place for a repair, the love he holds for the sport and his business shows. Not only is he good at his job while working with the gloves, he is also one of the most personable people I have ever met! From the first time I dropped off a glove to him until now, I keep a stack of his business cards in my bag and refer all of my friends to him. We purchased a glove online never realizing that it may not fit my daughter snug. When it arrived she put it on and it was too loose around the wrist. Before she told us this, we already had it steamed to get it ready so we could not send it back. We heard of a man that is a doctor of gloves. That he could fix the glove to tighten it up around the wrist. We looked him up and it was kind a far away so we had to plan for the visit. I gave him a call and he was amazing on the phone and made all my worries slip away. We drove the hour to get to him. Within minutes he had the glove fixed and I am now not out shopping for another expensive glove to replace this one. Mr. King is an amazing man and he has so much knowledge. Any issue with a glove he can handle it. Spending time with him was a gift in its self. Above and beyond glove repair he also takes old gloves and gets them ready and then sends them to the troops. I have never met someone with so much love for the game and people. It may be a little bit of a drive, or you can even ship him your glove, but if you can make the drive just meeting this man is an honor. He is amazing! I gave Gordon two gloves in need of repair and he returned two gloves looking like new. One had a lot of sentimental value and it was awesome to see it returned to top condition.
I've never had a glove repaired before and this exceeded my expectations. Communication with Gordon was easy, the price is reasonable, and my gloves were saved from the landfill. As a bonus, I learned some things from Gordon about how gloves are made and what he does to repair them.

The string in my son's baseball glove broke in multiple places and all the fingers were separated. He has used this glove for the last ten years and the thought of purchasing a new one and having to break it was frustrating at best. I learned about A1 Glove Repair from a radio interview, in which I was impressed with Gordon's passion for his trade. When after two seasons of high school use, my son's infielder glove needed a tune-up, I contacted him and set up an appointment. Mr. King was courteous and accommodating to our schedule.
