My son, who is a college pitcher had the string break on his glove. I hadn't realized how much the glove had loosened until Gordon restrung the top portion. Not only is his workmanship top notch he turned the glove around in one day.

I picked up my Mazuno fielders glove yesterday and am very pleased with the work that you did. I purchased the glove around 1987 and it had never been worked on by a professional, so it was in pretty tough shape with broken strings and layers of crud that had built up over the years. I like the heavier duty string you used to replace the broken strings and the overall condition of the glove. Looking forward to giving the glove a workout in the Spring.

Thank you for your care and attention to detail regarding the restoration of my son's glove as well as my own. They both look brand new!
The look on my son's face as I handed his newly restrung and restored glove to him was priceless - like he had got his best friend back. He said "I am going to have this glove for a very long time, it's like brand new! It's AWESOME." Thank you again, your knowledge is in depth, your work is excellent, and the time that it took to restore both gloves was minimal.
We will recommend you to all of our baseball friends!
Kind Regards,

I am absolutely blown away by the glove I just received back from Gordon and A1 Glove Repair. Honestly, I did not expect such an incredible result. After playing with my Rawlings Brooks Robinson glove over 50 years, it was ready to be retired. I looked at a lot of new gloves and then had the thought that someone out there might be able to repair mine. I sent it away only to be returned with a note that said "I'm sorry, we can't do anything this extensive." In a Google search I had bookmarked A1 Glove Repair (should have sent it there first) and sent in an inquiry. Gordon replied and encouraged me to send my glove to Parma, Ohio. I received several e-mails from Gordon as the glove was being repaired telling me of the progress being made. Still being a bit skeptical I thought I might be disappointed, but not so. My 50 year old glove feels like it's new but with a 50 year break-in period. I have padding again, new lining, thumb and pinky finger loops, all new lacing and completely reconditioned leather. And on top of that Gordon found the proper Rawlings patch and sewed it on. In all honesty, as a person who loves baseball and has always loved his glove from middle school to college and beyond, I thought my glove was done. But not so. Gordon and A1 brought it back to better than new. Amazing service!

Thank you, Gordon, for the wonderful work you did to restore my husband’s Mike Schmidt baseball glove! He was so surprised and excited to see his favorite glove restored back to the condition it was when he played in high school.

Our team catcher's mitt had only been used for one season before the strings that hold the pocket in place began breaking. Gordon pointed out that the leather strings used by most of the factories are inferior. He also showed me how it was not properly strung to be as durable as possible. Gordon restrung the whole mitt properly with a stronger leather, added padding to the palm, and used blue leather string so that the mitt now matches our team colors. The mitt seems like it will be much more durable now. Thanks for the great work!

In this day and age in youth sports, so many items we as parents buy are marketed as "quality", but in reality they don't hold up. I really appreciate all the knowledge you have and shared with us when it came time to getting new gloves for both my daughters. The little details of putting custom color strings in them really made the girls appreciate "their" glove, since they both know you can't get that from a box store. With your relationships and discounts, I was able to get 2 quality gloves for the price of one. I also want to thank you for the outstanding work you did with reconditioning Allies old glove. It was nice to get new strings in it and reconditioned before we had a issue.
Thanks again!

My son purchased a custom made glove for his collegiate summer league. I wanted to find someone who was well versed in gloves to break in my son's glove. After finding your website and reading the recommendations, I felt comfortable you would do a great job. Well you didn't let me down. You did a great job in breaking in his glove and he was extremely satisfied. You are one of a few that I have met that are extremely knowledgeable on glove construction and you even took the time to educate me about glove construction. I will certainly use you in the future and would feel comfortable recommending you to others.
Thanks a bunch!

About a month ago my team and I were at a tournament in Columbus Ohio. We were up to bat and three outs came, when I needed my glove. So I got it and put it on. I usually have to tighten my strap and I went to pull it and it came off completely. I had to use my teamates which was way too big. Anyways, after our game my dad went to the store and we got gorilla glue and tape and we fixed my glove up so I was ready for the next game. Our last tournament which was this weekend my coach comes up to my dad and I and asked if we still had my glove. I said "yes." He asked if I could get it and give it to him to see if this guy could fix it. So I grab my glove out of my bag and walk over with him and he gives it to this man named Gordon and he was so amazing. He fixed two other gloves while fixing mine. It was so good afterwards my glove felt exactly like how it was when I first got it.

My daughter had a big tournament coming up. She was at practice a few days before when her glove broke. I was so disappointed because her glove was only a year old. I thought it was a lost cause as I was sure that I could not find anyone that could fix her glove in two days. I also knew that buying a new glove and trying to break it in with only days left before the games would also be impossible. I had been to a charity tournament the year before and remembered seeing A1 Glove Repair. I looked up the phone number and to my surprise, Gordon was able to see me almost immediately! I was super impressed by his knowledge of the different qualities of leather and learning about the process of glove making and repair! Gordon not only repaired her glove in time, it was better than when we first purchased it! I came back a week later with my own well-used gloves! He has completely restored them with new laces and oiled them and I could not be happier with the results! I highly recommend Gordon King and A1 Glove repair.
Thanks Gordon!

I was at a softball tournament in Mayfield Heights and I was at the field because I was watching my little sister play when I came across these two wonderful, sweet, and most kind people you will ever meet - the King's. Gordon does a fantastic job of repairing gloves. My glove feels brand new after he replaced the top strings on my glove, and it stays open just like a brand new glove would. I was so impressed with how amazing it feels and how quickly he did it. His wife is such a wonderful lady too, she helps Gordon get everything he needs to repair the gloves. You can talk to them about anything and they are absolutely amazing. If you meet Gordon please have him tell you his story about Bodacious the bull, it is phenomenal. You will love them. Thank you Gordon and Joyce for your glove business. I will be a big help to spread the word about you guys.

Gordon King has worked on all my gloves and has done excellent work. Especially with the recent ones which were my Easton Black and Grey and my Easton Catcher's Mitt. He made my Easton Black and Grey look brand new and he replaced all the grey parts and black strings into blue, all because I had wanted that color in my glove. My catchers mitt had a rip in it, and we were worried that we were going to have to throw it away. But Gordon made the glove look brand new, and it looks like it had never had a rip in it. Also, the best part is that he gets it done before you need it. I have given both my gloves to him on a Monday, and I told him that I needed my Black and Grey glove done by the next day. And guess what, he had it done by the next day! He really is a great guy to go to if you need a glove fixed! He also really cares about your comfort with the glove too, and you can tell that he is really passionate about his work.

My son is a catcher on his high school baseball team. He has a custom Rawlings Pro Preferred catchers glove that is his pride and joy. Unfortunately, the pocket of the glove started to develop a good size tear in it. I contacted Rawlings for any repair ideas and they recommenced that I contact A1 Glove Repair and I'm glad that I did. Not only did Gordon do a FANTASTIC job on the repair he was also very detailed about exactly WHAT he was doing and WHY he was going to do it. Gordon made me fee like he was treating the glove as his own. When we got the glove back, my son was very impressed with the way the glove looked and even more importantly how the glove felt. It's better then new in our opinion! We will most definitely be using Gordon and his services for our future glove needs! I have recommended him to all of our friends knowing that his work is top-notch!
Thanks Gordon!

If you need repairs or anything that has to do with a baseball glove or softball glove this is the place to contact. I can not say enough about Gordon and his wife Joyce, they are wonderful people. My son is 17 and looking to play ball for college so this is an extremely important year for him. We were at a tournament the weekend of Memorial Day, and that Sunday night his catchers glove was hanging by a thread and we had to drive down to Cincinnati by Tuesday morning for a showcase. I was beside myself on what to do. Then I remembered a friend tell me about Gordon King, I looked him up that night and called him first thing Monday morning. I felt horrible bothering some one on a holiday and didn't even know if he would get back to me because it was a holiday. Well Gordon contacted me within a couple of hours and told me to bring it to him. I sat and talked to him for a while as he was working on a glove and could not believe how much there was to gloves and the leather they come from. Gordon is extremely knowledgeable about everything there is to know about gloves, from the animal (leather) their made from down to the man-made materials used as fillers. He had shown me gloves that looked like there was no hope and he brings them back to life. He is very fair, reasonably priced, and amazing at what he can do. When I came back later that day to pick up my sons glove I did not recognize it. It looked better than when we bought it. So again, I cant say enough, except thank you!
Gordon, you were a life saver and my son did extremely well at his showcase!

My son plays on an elite 11u team. During a scrimmage, he popped a string on his glove. Unfortunately, this was only a day or two prior to leaving for a major national tourney in Omaha. We tried a couple of other glove repair shops, which told us there was no way to get it done in anything less than a week. However, Gordon didn't bat an eye when we asked if he could get the job done on the same day. Within a few hours, my son's glove was in better condition than it was prior to breaking the string. And the price was shockingly reasonable. We'll be coming back to Gordon again as he does a hell of a job and has a passion for what he does. What more could one ask for?

This is my second time around with Gordon and A1 Glove Repair. The first time Gordon did a wonderful of refurbishing a glove from 1956 that my dad bought when he was 8 from a hardware store. I was able to not only give it to him for Christmas, but play catch with him, an experience he never expected with that glove. On this time around my two sons needed emergency glove repair. Not only was Gordon glad to hear from me again, and remembered the original glove, but he restrung both boys gloves in less than 48 hours. His craftsmanship and attention to detail was never a concern to me and when we got the gloves back the kids were so happy and the gloves were on point. Since then, I have told two other dads about his work and the two club teams they play on. It just doesn’t get any better than A1!

I play softball all year long in many different leagues, playing many different positions. After each season my glove is worn out. Mr. Gordon King is great at reconditioning my glove so it can survive the next season. Also, if I ever break a string on my glove or need it re-tightened, Mr. King repairs my glove fast. Without his glove repair business, I wouldn't have been able to keep my glove as long as I have.

In my experience with Mr. King, there is nothing about a baseball glove that he cannot fix, repair, or make better for you. I have brought several gloves to Mr. King for various reasons. Mr. King has worked on 2 brand new gloves by removing the plastic out of the fingers and breaking one of those new gloves in for my son. He has also repaired the leather on the webbing of a 30 year old glove for my husband, and made another 30 year old glove have a more comfortable fit for myself. The glove oil that he makes and has provided for us is the best that I have ever used. It is a great product for the glove and it feels like you are putting lotion on your hands. In our conversations there are many other things that Mr. King is able to work and repair as well. Mr. King has a special place in his heart for Bodacious the bull and has gotten my sons interested in looking up videos on bull riding. Going to see Mr. King for your glove or leather needs will be a pleasant learning experience. We will definitely be using A1 Glove Repair for our future needs.

Gordon is a true craftsman and a perfectionist with many years of experience with baseball glove repair and restoration. I was afraid to entrust my 1961 TMC steer hide left hand throw baseball/softball glove to just anyone. I'm now 64 years old. When I was 8 years old, I had saved my own money and I peddled my bike from store to store looking to buy a new baseball glove. I purchased the biggest and best glove I could find at Uncle Bills W. 117th Street and Berea Rd. Cleveland OH. As I grew into that glove I participated in youth and adult softball & baseball leagues, and also the neighborhood playground. I maintained my glove through the years. Gordon completely restrung my glove to my exact instruction and matched the new laces color perfectly to my now 57 year old glove.
Gordon definitely exceeded my expectations and at a very reasonable cost.

I just wanted to let you know how pleased my daughter is with her gloves. I purchased the gloves at Dick's and had them broken in there as well. She still had a tough time closing the glove. I found out about your plastic insert removal service and brought over a couple of gloves. She was so happy when I brought them home. They are so much easier for her to close and catch the ball with. What a difference!

Last year my glove had broke and I wanted to get it repaired. It is a glove that I had at the Cleveland Indians 2001 Fantasy Camp, and wanted to keep those memories with this glove. You see all kinds of ads for people who will repair your glove, but you always wonder what will happen to it? Earlier this year I was talking to a couple dads from my son's travel baseball team and they recommended Gordon King. They indicated they he did a great job! I gave Gordon a call and set up an appointment to see him. When he saw my glove he was very impressed with condition of the glove besides the broken strings. He said "I can make this glove look and feel like it is brand new" WOW, I was very impressed by Gordon and his compassion for his work. He also explained how he repairs gloves and donates them to out troops. Gordon is a stand up guy and there is "NO BULL" about it, he will know what I mean. When I picked up my glove, it looked and felt like it was brand new! I also brought Gordon a glove for him to repair and donate to the troops. He was very thankful. If your glove needs repair, give Gordon a call.
Thanks Gordon! Keep up your great work!

I met Gordon at the ABCA Conference in Indianapolis this year. I watched him work and we exchanged some baseball stories. Later, I decided to send him my 40 year old ball glove for restoration. His price was most reasonable, and his workmanship was magnificent. I now have what looks like a new glove that doesn't need breaking in. All baseball players develop the equivalent of a love affair with their gloves. We caress them, we talk to them, we depend on them. If you have a glove that is also a precious baseball memory, send it to Gordon. He will infuse new life into it, and you will feel as restored as that piece of leather with which you built cherished memories.
I heartily and without reservation recommend Gordon King to be the man to restore your baseball glove.

I wanted to take a moment to drop a quick email expressing what a nice job Gordon did with my daughters glove. She had a several year old Wilson A800 that she loved, but it had seen better days. It's a middle of the road glove and I figured it was just time to replace it. Before going out and spending probably a couple hundred bucks on a new glove, we took it to Gordon at At A1 Glove Repair to see what he could do with it, and he assured us that he could make the glove like new.
Actually, when we got the glove back it was better than new. He re-padded the palm better than original, reconditioned the leather and it looked as good if not better than new. He restrung the glove with heavier strings than original, and added some additional support strings in the back to stiffen it up and help keep its shape and integrity. My daughter loves the glove, and she should get several more years out of it as a result of the refurbishment Gordon did. Got the glove back in about 2 weeks and couldn't be happier, and at a fraction of the cost of a new High end glove. The glove has the feel of a high end glove that quite frankly it never had before, even when new. Very glad to offer our endorsement and recommendation for the workmanship, skill, and knowledge of gloves that A1 Glove Repair provides to their customers.

I just wanted to give a shout out to a job well done and at a very reasonable price. Had my Wilson A-2000 (used in the 1980’s while playing softball in Maple Heights) done. The pocket strings were broken, others were very worn, so you did the entire glove and wow, it’s like a new glove and should last many more years (for my grandchildren). Now I have to get it broken in again. Heard about you from my co-worker and he handled the transporting of the glove to and from you, for me, since I live in Cuyahoga Falls. Will certainly recommend you to anyone that is needing to get their gloves done.

As a high school and club coach I’m surrounded around talented baseball players who depend on their gloves. When something happens with their glove, a replacement just doesn’t cut it. Players want to use their glove. When we have glove issues we go to Gordon at A1. He does incredible work and does it fast. He is in constant communication and the gloves come back better than before. Our last emergency was a catchers mitt a dog got a hold of. The glove had to be relaced and the web needed to be replaced. Gordon had the glove back to us in better shape than before in less than a week. A1 is a professional, rock solid company that has won our future business.
Great job A1!

Gordon repaired and refurbished a 25 year old glove that was dry rotted and unplayable. He made it look brand new for way lower than the cost of a new glove! I get to keep and play with a glove that has sentimental value! He also told me the history behind it, like where and when it was made and what materials were used. He's an interesting guy in an interesting line of work. I would never throw away an old glove, no matter what shape it's in.
Just call Gordon!

I am so happy that I was referred to A1 glove repair. From the first time I spoke to Gordon and he shared his love of baseball and leather and the history of his company I knew my son’s glove would be in the right hands to be repaired. Gordon even went above and beyond my expectations to repair the glove and I would highly recommend him to anyone needing service to any item of leather. Honest and good people.
Thanks A1!

During early December of last month I conducted an in-depth search for a high quality company to repair my Rawlings Pro 9b 11" baseball glove which is over 10 years old. While searching the internet I located A1 Glove Repair in Parma, Ohio. Based upon the the the very positive reviews by former customers, as well as seeing pictures of gloves before and after repair, I placed a phone call to the owner of the company - Gordon King. He was genuine, knowledgeable and spent a great deal of time and effort explaining what repairs were needed based on my description, pictures of the glove submitted, and receipt of my glove via mail. After repairs were completed and the glove was returned to me it looked almost brand new. With new strings, padding, and coloring it greatly exceeded my expectations. As a result, I will not hesitate to recommend this noteworthy company to the many baseball teams that I have coached in the past, the girl's softball league where I still presently coach, and anyone else having the need for this service.
Hats off to Gordon King!

My husband played baseball in college and won the Division 3 College World Series in 1987. He has two gloves, an infielder's glove and an outfielder's glove, that he used while playing. For many years, these gloves were packed away, until our daughter started playing baseball. We bought her a new glove when she started playing because her hands were small. When she grew out of that first glove, she started using the infielder's glove. After two seasons of heavy use, playing catch in the yard and on the field, the leather strings broke on the infielder's glove mid-season, and by the end of the season, the outfielder's glove had also broken. I asked several local coaches if they knew anyone who did glove repair, but no one did. I turned to the internet, and found A1 Glove Repair, which conveniently was located only an hour from my house. Gordon was able to replace the strings of both gloves and re-color them to bring back the original color of the gloves. His prices were reasonable and he was able to complete the work in a few weeks. I asked my husband if he was happy with the repairs and he said yes. I'm glad we were able to have these special gloves repaired and that they can continue to be used by another generation.
Thank you Gordon.

I was very pleased with the work that Gordon did in bringing new life to my 1970's Roberto Clemente autographed glove. Gordon restrung, added padding and reconditioned the old worn out glove to like new condition. And the price he charged was very reasonable. I am now am able to use it during the summer months in the local senior softball league.

I had two gloves repaired. My everyday infield glove, which was a high quality Rawlings glove, only needed the inside leather repaired and it came back better than new! Note, the glove was in good shape except for interior wear. My backup glove was an older glove that needed the inside leather repaired and the finger tabs. These problems were fixed and the strings were replaced. Both gloves were oiled and conditioned. My backup glove was used when another player forgot their own glove. Now my backup glove is in better condition than those players everyday glove!
