I was searching for some leather repair on my son's hockey goalie leg pads. A friend of mine gave me Gordon's number. I gave Gordon a call and he was very helpful and offered to take a look at what I needed repaired. He admitted that this would be a first for him (goalie repair vs glove repair). When we met, Gordon knew exactly what I needed, he was able to replace the leather straps and reinforced where they were secured. Gordon was very knowledgeable, and the work was completed quickly and his prices were great. I would recommend A1 glove repair to anyone, including fellow hockey families.

Also, Gordon and his wife had a booth at the 30th annual North Royalton Bear Brawl travel baseball tournament this past summer. We received positive feed back from the fans. Hello, my name is Kennedy Lonsbury and I am a friend of Gordon's. I got the opportunity to meet him in the summer. Through him I got a new SSK glove. My glove is black and I didn't just want a plain glove so I kindly asked Gordon to put in my favorite color which is purple. Part of the glove was also red, so I had him dye the red part black so that everything matched. I also like a lot of padding in my glove, so Gordon went out of his way to not only put padding in, but he broke it in so I could use it right away. He took the time to get mine done before others. He is not only known for his great glove work, but he has a great attitude and personality. He is so sweet and kind to all his customers. Because I was such an inspiration to him he has allowed me to help him with his business. It has been so awesome to know him and work with him.

I wanted to give you an unbiased report of two different gloves. A little over a year ago I came to you looking for a first base glove for my daughter. You recommended a SSK. You also told me how the leather used for a SSK glove is "better" than what larger companies like Rawlings, Wilson, Nike, etc. We ended up buying a SSK glove from you. Not only did you deliver the glove, but you also put yellow strings in the glove for her at no charge. So about half way through our summer season, our daughter got moved to the OF. After a few weeks of practices and tournaments, we were told she needed a new glove. Something a little bigger and her old fielding glove was just worn out. Everyone was telling us "she needs a Wilson 2000". I contacted you and got a price on a SSK. I listened to everyone tell us how great a Wilson 2000 is so we bought one. The SSK did take a while to break in, but now that glove is like butter, it's so soft and amazing. I'm sure the Wilson is going to be a good glove, but I feel its not on the same caliber as a SSK. The leather on the SSK is so soft, where as the Wilson glove does not feel as nice. It is not that nice smooth texture. The Wilson has also really taken a long time to break in. I'm sure the Wilson is going to be a good glove for her, but the SSK is her favorite. We went outside tonight to play catch and she grabbed the SSK and let me use the Wilson.

I can't express how happy I am to have met Gordon this summer! A few years back, while trying to break in my son's gloves, I literally baked my high school glove in the oven, thereby completely destroying the inside and damaging the outer leather as well. I love this glove and couldn't believe I killed it. When I met Gordon and showed it to him, he was calm and confident and said he could bring it back to life. Best part - for a price I could not believe. Flash forward to pick up day. HOLY SMOKES! I told him "I've never seen this glove look so good!". The inside of the glove completely restored. The outside treated, restrung and simply gorgeous. I couldn't wait to get it home to show my 14yr old son. Gordon, thank you for bringing back a big part of my baseball past.

My son joined a travel team from the Cleveland area and we were up from Louisville, KY for the team’s first couple of practices. My son’s a catcher and at the first practice the webbing in his catcher’s mitt busted. Another parent on the team recommended Gordon, so I called Gordon late on a Saturday afternoon. Truthfully I was expecting Gordon to say he couldn’t fix the mitt on such short notice. To my surprise, Gordon said bring the mitt on over and I’ll take care of it for you. We arrived at Gordon’s place, he looked at the mitt, and said I’ll have it ready for you in 30 to 45 minutes. My family and I ran a quick errand and when we returned the mitt was repaired. And not just repaired, it was better now than when it was brand new. I can’t say enough about Gordon’s quality of work and his customer service. I’ll be sending my son’s All-Star mitt back to Gordon for a complete reconditioning and stringing. I will also be sending Gordon a brand new Rawlings catcher’s mitt I purchased for my son to have it completely restrung so that it’s “Gordon Strong”. Thanks again Gordon!

I have used Gordon's service now for a number of years. As a coach, we are always tweaking the kids gloves and our fastpitch level girls are rough on them. I have sent Gordon (or Keith has picked up) approximately a dozen gloves now. From stringing in our school colors, to breaking them in, to full rebuilds. He has always done a great job at a fair price. I even sent him my old well-broke in, "part of my family" glove and he cobbled it back together for a few more years of service.

I had a Mizuno catcher's mitt that within one year the webbing was broken. Through word of mouth I was given Gordon's contact information. Being local to Gordon, I was able to drop off the glove the same day I called him. In under a week I had the glove back in my hands and it looks fantastic. The repair work was excellent and better quality stringing than what the glove came with from the manufacturer. Gordon cleaned and oiled the glove as well. When I got it back it looked better than new! I was very impressed with his work and his knowledge of how the gloves are made. Was well worth the money and much less expensive than just buying a new glove. I would recommend to anyone that would like to salvage a glove with sentimental value, or just have a repair done, to contact Gordon before purchasing a new glove. Last minute I decided to repair my husband's baseball mitt as a father's day gift from my kids. With about a week to go, I quickly did an internet search to find the A1 Glove Repair website. I called and had an appointment to drop the glove within the hour. When I arrived and explained my desire to expedite, Gordon was very accommodating. He personally delivered a glove that looked brand new (not the way it looked when I dropped it off) to my home on father's day so that my kids had a gift for dad. It took no more than 5 minutes for my son to drag my husband out to play catch, and this time, he had a fully strung mitt complete with a little extra padding as my son has gotten quite good at the game. I will use A1 Glove Repair again, and would gladly recommend them to anyone in need of glove repair. I couldn't be more happy with the both the product and the service!

I first reached out to A1 for a thumb loop repair after getting referred by Rawlings. After learning more about A1's services I asked Gordon to re-pad and condition my glove as well. In the end I received a restored glove that is reminiscent of when I first bought it more than 20 years ago!

Gordon is really nice and easy to talk to and he is really good at fixing gloves. If you have something wrong with your glove I suggest you go to him if you need it fixed. He finishes with repairing your glove, or anything you had done to it really quick and doesn’t overcharge to get the glove fixed. He makes sure if you need anything done again, or done differently he will make it right just for you because he wants to make sure you like the glove the way it is.

I am a third baseman on my travel team. I have a Mizuno glove and while at practice one day, I caught a line drive which unfortunately caused the strings on my glove to snap. My coach recommended that I get my glove repaired at A1 Glove Repair and I am so glad that I did. Not only did Gordon do a wonderful job on my glove, he let me choose my own colored string and he told me where and what everything was made from. He also saw a problem with my glove that I had never noticed and fixed it. When I got my glove back it was like brand new! I will definitely come back when I need more work on my glove. Gordon King is top notch. Gordon took time out of his schedule to meet with myself and daughter to restring one of her favorite gloves. We probably stayed longer than he wished learning about the different types/procedures used in making ball gloves. By the end of our visit Gordon had restrung my daughters glove and made some other adjustments during the visit. Gordon is also a rep for SSK gloves, and if you buy one from him he will break it in and condition it before you get it. We did end up getting one of his custom SSK gloves and my daughter loves it so far. Keep up the great work!

My daughter’s fastpitch gloves needed some repair. Her coach gave me Gordon’s information. My daughter’s fielding glove needed new strings and to be tightened to fit her hand. Her catcher’s mitt needed new strings. I called Gordon and made an appointment to meet him at his shop. Gordon and his wife were a lot of fun to talk to and very knowledgeable about gloves. Gordon was able to fix both gloves in just two days. My daughter was thrilled to pick out the color of the leather strings and she liked his work. I was pleased with his work and prices. To start, I spoke with Gordon on the phone and I was very impressed. I had a web problem with my SSK infield glove and once I got off the phone, I knew A1 glove repair would do a great job if I sent it in. So, I sent it in and got the fixed glove back in a week. It has been great for me and I would not do anything differently if I were to go back in time.

I would recommend A1 Glove repair to all. We were in the midst of my daughter trying out for her HS team when a string in the webbing of her glove broke. I called A1 Glove Repair on Tuesday morning and by Tuesday afternoon she was back at tryouts with her "new" mitt. Gordon is a one-stop-shop. He's saved us last minute when a string broke on my son's glove mid-tournament. He's broken in a glove for us that we purchased elsewhere. I play first base in senior softball, and use a Nokona Classic Walnut 13" first baseman's mitt. I have become a big fan of the A1 Secret Formula glove dressing. It goes on easily, does not add weight to the glove, and it makes the glove soft and pliable so that the ball sticks very easily in the glove. I have used various other glove oils in the past, but now I am committed to A1 Secret Formula.

I want to thank you for the amazing job you did on the two gloves I had dropped off a few weeks ago. About a month a go I was trusted to restring two gloves by a cousin's girlfriend, and quickly realized I was not able to do the quality of work either one of us were looking for. I searched online and after reading about some of the work you had done in the past I knew I had to get the gloves over to you as soon as possible. Both of the gloves were neither in good shape or the best of quality, but held sentimental value to my family member, so I wanted to be sure they were well taken care of. After dropping the gloves off and having a moment to talk to you about the process of repair I knew I had found the right person for the job. As confident as I was in the way the gloves would turn out after leaving your house, I was even more blown away once I picked them up. Not only did you get both gloves done in three days they both looked almost like new. When my cousin opened them, he asked his girlfriend how she managed to find new gloves that looked like the one's he had before. I want to thank you again for helping me out on such short notice along with doing such an amazing job.

I met Gordon at the ABCA convention in January 2018 and we talked gloves and the conditioning of them. Gordon had a formula for a conditioner and so I picked up three bottles. I used one of the bottles on my hands at first and it worked wonders during the harsh northern winter. I then started using the conditioner on my gloves and it is a game changer. It is the only conditioner I will ever use again. Instead of adding weight to the glove (like Neatsfoot oil or other conditioners) the A1 Glove Conditioner does an outstanding job of reconditioning the leather and does not add any weight to the glove. It is easy to use and does not leave the oily finish like some of the other conditioners. It is easily the best glove conditioner I have ever used.

I highly recommend Gordon for any glove repair and conditioning. I have taken two different softball catchers gloves to him in the last 6 months. One was to restring around the webbing. Gordon went the extra mile and reinforced the padding. The second was a catchers glove that my daughter's assistant coach is letting her use. It had been sitting around for years on the shelf. Gordon removed the plastic inserts. He used his homemade glove oil to clean and condition the glove. It looks great and works better already. The coach saw the glove and was impressed on what a difference. he asked my daughter, what did you do? "We took it to the Glove Doctor!".
