RE: Rawlings Pro Preferred Custom Model
I want to thank you for the great work performed on my son’s Rawlings, Primo glove. When we began looking for a quality shop to perform the work I started locally. I soon discovered there was no one in our area that would re-lace the glove, so we called the manufacturer - Rawlings in St. Louis, MO.
After a short conversation with a customer service employee, it was pointed out that there are only a couple places in the states they would recommend having this work performed. One of the businesses is A1 Glove Repair in Ohio. My son called and spoke with you about the project. Zach was excited after the conversation because he had finally found someone that understood the importance of what his glove meant to him.
Still a little apprehensive about sending an expensive glove half way across the country, I called to confirm all of the particulars. You exceeded my expectations as well. You provided step by step instructions for shipping and even called once you received the glove. I was confident we made a good choice.
We cannot thank you enough for the wonderful work you did. The glove is back in action and better than new.

My son is a catcher on his high school baseball team. He has a custom Rawlings Pro Preferred catchers glove that is his pride and joy. Unfortunately, the pocket of the glove started to develop a good size tear in it. I contacted Rawlings for any repair ideas and they recommenced that I contact A1 Glove Repair and I'm glad that I did. Not only did Gordon do a FANTASTIC job on the repair he was also very detailed about exactly WHAT he was doing and WHY he was going to do it. Gordon made me feel like he was treating the glove as his own.
When we got the glove back, my son was very impressed with the way the glove looked and even more importantly how the glove felt. It's better than new in our opinion! We will most definitely be using Gordon and his services for our future glove needs! I have recommended him to all of our friends knowing that his work is top-notch!

I brought in my father's glove from 1984 that I have been using for 20 years. Over half of the strings were snapped, the padding in the palm was basically my hand itself, and the glove looked as dry as a desert. I took fair care of it over the years with getting it restrung and treated at Dicks Sporting Goods, but the 2019 season just destroyed it while playing in 12 leagues over the course of the year. I started looking into comparable gloves online just to see what it would run me for a 16 inch glove that could take the abusive lineup of games I play in. The price and selection was very discouraging.
I then saw this site as a suggestion from google search as an alternative after clicking on the restringing option. Gordon got the Glove and said that he could get it back up and working again in a week. Re-strung, re-padded, re-webbed and treated. It looks 300% better than Dick's ever brought it back and for the same price. It feels almost like a new glove, with some nice broken in parts for use. 100% satisfied with the price and service on the glove. Would Highly recommend this. Only words of caution for people are that the glove will stink a bit for a day or two due to the treatment of the glove and if you get new webbing put into the glove, it is super stiff and needs to be broken in. Expect a few balls to notch off the top until it gets a bit of flex in it again.
Besides that, no complaints!

I became familiar with Mr. King when I contacted him regarding a vintage Wilson A2000 that needed some web repair. After discussing gloves and baseball in general, we noted that we had similar favorite Boston Red Sox players from the 1960's and 1970's. I ended sending my glove for repair and reconditioning along with one that could be used for the military after he repaired and restored it.
Due to some health issues that Mr. King was going through at that time it took while for my glove's restoration/repair to be completed. However, it was well worth the wait! His prices were extremely reasonable and he included a bottle of his homemade glove conditioner lotion free of charge. Mr. King goes the extra mile to ensure his customers are pleased and satisfied with his work. Thus, I highly recommend his glove repair service, as he is skilled and demonstrates quality craftmanship.
I would definitely use him again.

My dad played semi pro baseball in the late 1930's to early 1940's in Pittsburgh. He passed away in 1976 at an early age of 59. He gave me his Elmer Riddle model glove before he passed. I've had the glove displayed in my den with other baseball memorabilia I've collected over the years. From time to time, I would take the glove and pat the webbing and pocket. Recently the laces around the webbing broke due to age. I took the glove to Gordon and we had a great conversation about gloves and baseball. He had no problem fixing the webbing that now looks brand new but still showing the age of being 80 years old. Gordon also worked the leather back to a glowing shine. I am very pleased with the care Gordon has given to my prize possession. Because of his great service, I recently dropped off two early 1900's gloves for Gordon to work his magic.

Over the course of the spring, Mr. King repaired two gloves, helped break-in another, and restored my dad's bicentennial glove. I highly recommend Mr.King’s services. He knows his stuff! His service is fast, reliable, and very reasonable. I had a great travel ball season, which I owe in part to my coaches and Mr.King.

I want to personally thank & highly recommend A1 globe repair. I had my grandfather’s University of Illinois football helmet & baseball glove from 1040s repaired & reconditioned by Gordon, they did a great job bringing the glove back to life and completely overhauling and restoring the interior of the helmet. I can’t recommend them enough. If you need any sort of work on Gloves I recommend reaching out.

I sent my 30+ year old High School Rod Carew baseball glove to A1 after meeting Gordon King at a local youth baseball tournament with my son. I was playing in a softball game and I went to tighten the strap on my glove. Well, after 6+ years of using my glove, the strap decided to break. I was in need of a glove repair and fast, so that I could use my glove for my next game. A1 Glove Repair was the first to pop up on my google search. After reading the reviews, there was no hesitation. I contacted Gordon right away and his response time was incredible. I emailed him Friday, took my glove to him on Saturday and my glove was done on Sunday. The service is great and super quick!! My glove felt so much better playing in my game. He was able to fix the strap and tighten my strings, as well as make the hand compartment tighter on my hand. He also put bat grip tape on my bat and cleaned it- looked brand new!! The work he does is incredible!! He is an expert at what he does and is a walking book of knowledge! Very personable and enjoys getting to know his customers! I am happy to write this testimonial for my friends at A1 Glove Repair. I brought 3 of my kids gloves to him to break-in. The first was an Easton Ghost catcher's glove. My 14 year old daughter was having a hard time using it because it was really stiff. I am happy to add my comments to your wonderful list of appreciative customers. I sent my 4th glove of my lifetime to you. It was a Wilson Al Kaline model from the late 60's. I bought it with money saved from my newspaper route. I remember the day buying it at the long-closed Varsity Shop in Niagara Falls, NY. Having a good glove was a necessity for us who grew up in the 50's and 60's. The glove had been used and worn from the work and play of hardball, softball, and lots of catch with siblings, friends, children and grandchildren. I thought it deserved to be repaired. Upon googling "glove repair," I found your service and read the reviews. Your price was reasonable and you were in Cleveland area, in close proximity to Western New York. We emailed and I was satisfied with your repair of a precious object in my life. My daughter had complained the padding on her catchers glove was worn out and her hand was hurting. She really likes this glove and did not want another. A friend had referred me to Gordon at A1 glove repair. I called and Gordon was sure he could make her glove comfortable for her. He added padding and tightened up the strings replacing a few. Her glove is back to original comfort (probably better) and all tightened up. She is very happy with the repairs made.

My glove was in desperate need of restringing. While Im not actively playing softball any longer, I am a baseball coach for my son's team and naturally require a mitt. The last thing I wanted to do was buy a new mitt. I love my mitt and want it forever. I started by calling Dick's sporting goods and one store after another was not able to repair my mitt. So as Im hanging up with the final store I asked if they knew anyone in the Cleveland area that restrings mitts. The associate recommended "some guy" in the Parma area, he heard did a pretty good job. I proceeded to google Parma area mitt repair and low and behold I found A1 Glove Repair...Gordon King. It was later in the evening after normal business hours, but I figured I'd call and leave a message for callback. Gordon answered my call and we scheduled to meet the following day. Drop my glove off, talk for a few minutes, pay him and my mitt was repaired a few days later. The work was amazing...looks and smells brand new. Not only did he re-lace the mitt, but polished it up. The workmanship is so fine, that I doubt I will ever need it repaired again, but I will certainly tell everyone I know about Gordon King.

My buddy I play baseball with recommended Gordon King’s A1 Glove Repair when the strings on my 40-year old Rawlings HFG-12 Reggie Jackson autographed glove broke during the game. The next day, Gordon met me at his wife’s office, which happens to be near my own home and personally picked up my glove. A week later we made the same exchange only this time my glove was in excellent condition and looked reborn. For starters, Gordon restrung the entire glove with excellent leather strings and replaced the thin old padding with much needed thicker upgraded padding. He also reconditioned it with his own special blend of oils. The glove felt better than it had in decades. I am looking forward to playing ball again this year only now with a glove that anyone would be proud to call their own. I would recommend A1 Glove Repair to anyone who needs their baseball glove repaired, reconditioned, or reborn as was the case of mine. I think Gordon King is the best in the business and I would recommend him to anyone needing professional help with their glove.

My son was given his first baseball glove by my dad, his grandpa, some twenty-six years ago. He used the glove throughout his playing days, which included his high school years. After prolonged wear and tear, we purchased a new glove for him and he reluctantly used it, but it never totally replaced that first glove he was given. He is now married and has a son of his own. I decided to contact Gordon and inquire whether or not he would be able to refurbish my son's original glove so that I could give it to him as a Christmas present. Upon locating the glove, I discovered that the glove was in worse shape than I had remembered. The strings were no longer intact, the padding was nonexistent, the webbing was impaired, and the color was completely faded. I was almost afraid to take it to Gordon in its present condition, unsure if it could be repaired. However, I should not have worried. Gordon was so friendly and so nice. He examined the glove and said he would be able to restore the glove. When I returned a few weeks later to pick up the final product, I was astounded! The glove looked brand new. I could never have imagined that it would be restored to such pristine condition. My son was so surprised on Christmas morning when he opened his gift. It not only became a glove he could use to play catch with his own son, it also brought back such warm memories of his beloved grandpa who had given it to him first. I so highly recommend Gordon. He is friendly, personable, and so very knowledgeable. He does his very best work and puts his heart as well as his talent into creating an incomparable finished product.

I contacted Rawlings in St. Louis, Missouri. They told me to go to A1 Glove Repair to get my grandson's catchers mitt repaired. I used to be in the business of sporting goods and I knew this glove was not fixable. I sent it to Gordon King anyways. He called me and told me he could make the glove like new. When I got the glove back it looked new! My grandson was so happy to get the glove back. For the money I spent getting it fixed I would not have been able to get a quality glove for that price. Hands down the best place to get your glove taken care of! We took our son's glove to Gordon to repair. It turned out wonderful!
