Soccer For All

For the past ten years, the owners of Soccer Sensations, LLC have organized numerous charity soccer tournaments in the Washington, DC area. Most of these charity events have been Futsal (five-a-side indoor soccer) or six-a-side outdoor soccer tournaments. During this time we have successfully raised nearly $100,000.00 for DC SCORES, Kids with Cops and other after-school youth organization in Washington, DC.
DC SCORES
DC SCORES is an after-school program whose mission is to inspire and promote creativity, academic achievement, community involvement and athleticism among urban youth through soccer and creative academic workshops. DC SCORES works in partnership with schools, neighborhoods, the soccer community and talented education professionals. It currently operates in 16 D.C. public schools and serves nearly 500 student-athletes. Adult leaders coach the students in soccer and give them guidance in writing workshops where they are encouraged to express their feelings. DC SCORES allows students to find their own voices, and find ways to improve their communities from within.
The DC SCORES program has expanded and sparked a national organization, AMERICA SCORES. The AMERICA SCORES program is one of the only programs in the nation that introduces the international sport of soccer and Futsal to inner-city youth through an after-school program that is based on academic skills-building. Through AMERICA SCORES, urban youth join a team with their classmates and participate together in Soccer and Creative Writing activities during after-school hours. The AMERICA SCORES program now operates in Washington, DC; Boston, MA; Denver, CO; Chicago, IL; New York, NY and San Francisco, CA. Plans are currently under way for a SCORES program to open in Phoenix, Arizona and numerous other cities in the years to come.
Kids With Cops
The City of Gaithersburg Police and the Montgomery County Police in Maryland pride themselves on community involvement. The Kids with Cops program is part of their Youth Community Outreach Program. Police officer assist underpriveleged children by providing a soccer enrichment program that teaches them the game of soccer. The program focuses on developing a youth soccer players fundamentals, teamwork, camaraderie and the spirit of the game.
However, it is more than a soccer program. Their positive interaction within the community in which they patrol has proven to be essential to the community’s growth. Their involvement in after-school programs has proven to be a positive crime prevention tactic by providing guidance and educating our nation’s children. The program helps keep children off the streets and the needless risk of becoming involved in gangs, drugs, alcohol and criminal activity. With proper funding, this program will reduce crime and violence, and help children learn the skills and values they need to become good neighbors and responsible adults.
These tournaments will directly benefit these children, keep them off the streets and help us “Stop the Violence”.
It is extremely important for law enforcement agencies to come together in support of organizations that provide assistance to the families of our law enforcement and firefighting colleagues that have given the ultimate sacrifice for their community. By working together to "Stop the Violence" we may save a colleagues life.
We have recently combined our efforts with the U.S. Futsal Federation and created a "Stop the Violence" campaign. This campaign will benefit youth after-school organizations across the United States by organizing numerous "Stop the Violence" events.
