DRAFT
LTFL IS COMMITTED TO FAIR PLAY, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND SPORTSMANSHIP
OUR DRAFT PROCESS IS DESIGNED FOR BALANCED TEAMS
WITH THE ABILITY TO GROW AND SUCCEED
1. Only coaches and board members are present. Players do not need to be present.
2. LTFL's draft is random, blind and based on evaluations.
3. Linemen and ball handling weight players are drafted in separate rounds to ensure even distribution of linemen
4. The only automatic placement players are the children of the Head Coach and one Assistant Coach for each team. "Children" is defined as coaches child by birth or adoption. ALL AUTOMATIC PLACEMENT PLAYERS MUST BE EVALUATED OR THEY WILL BE SELECTED AS FIRST ROUND PLAYERS
5. All unevaluated players are divided based on age, weight, experience etc. LTFL strives to divide talent as evenly as possible, to ensure even teams.
6. Siblings, in the same league, are automatically placed on the same team.
7. Special request for friends, rides, coaches or any other reason require certain conditions to be met.
A. All players concerned must be evaluated
B. All coaches concerned must be willing to execute required trades
C. Football Director or League President must approve
D. All trades must be within the same round
8. Late registrants will be placed on teams of greatest need, based on roster size and linemen at the time of placement.
9. There are no trades, after the draft. Players may be moved by LTFL to correct for players in wrong grade, age or siblings in same league mistakenly placed on different teams. If absolutely necessary, players may be moved by LTFL to resolve disparities in roster size.
EXPLANATION AND EXAMPLES:
If 110 players are registered for a league, 8 teams will be formed. 6 teams will have 14 players and 2 teams will have 13 players, at conclusion of draft day.
All evaluated players of ball handling weight are divided into rounds of eight based on evaluation scores. The top 8 players are first round players, players 9-16 are second round players etc. Cards, representing players, are placed face down and picked blindly by coaches.
All evaluated players above ball handling weight (linemen) are divided into rounds of eight based on evaluation scores. The top 8 players are first round players, players 9-16 are second round players etc. Cards, representing players, are placed face down and picked blindly by coaches.
All unevaluated players of ball handling weight are divided into rounds of eight, based on age, grade, size and experience, to create as even group as possible. Cards, representing players, are placed face down and picked blindly by coaches.
All unevaluated players above ball handling weight (linemen) are divided into rounds of eight, based on age, grade, size and experience, to create as even group as possible. Cards, representing players, are placed face down and picked blindly by coaches.
Coaches children are selected in the round determined by their evaluation score. If Coach Smith's son has an evaluation placing him in the third round, Coach Smith chooses cards in the first two rounds and automatically get his child in the third round.
If Coach Smith's child is unevaluated, he will be placed in the first round. If Coach Smith and his Assistant Coach both have unevaluated children, they will be placed in the first two rounds.
If a Head Coach and his Assistant have children, with an evaluation score placing them in the same round, the coach automatically gets those players and will not pick in the next round.
If siblings have an evaluation score placing them in the first and fourth rounds, the coach selecting sibling in the first round automatically gets sibling in fourth round, as his pick.
If siblings have an evaluation score placing them in the same round, the coach automatically gets both siblings and will not pick in the next round.
If an evaluated player has a request, a trade may be executed, within that round to accommodate. This means a first round player can only be traded for another first round player, second for a second etc. Both coaches and the league must agree to trade. Requests can not be used to manipulate the strength of teams.
If an unevaluated player has a request, it cannot be acted upon. Requests can not be used to manipulate the strength of teams.
If late registrant is a player of ball handling weight, they will be placed on the team with the KNOWN, CONFIRMED smallest roster, at the time of placement. Coaches must keep league informed of roster changes, to ensure parity.
If late registrant is a player above ball handling weight, they will be placed on the team with the KNOWN, CONFIRMED smallest number of linemen, at the time of placement. Coaches must keep league informed of roster changes, to ensure parity.
ROSTERS
LTFL strives to keep rosters between 12 and 15 players to balance need for 11 players for games and playing time for all players.
If there is an unusual number of late registrants, the Football Operations Committee may decide to expand rosters beyond 15.
If by scrimmage week (the week before first official game) a team has fewer than eleven active players, the Football Operations Committee may decide to combine teams or disperse smallest team to other teams.
