What is my child’s “league age”?
"League Age" is determined using the below age chart created by Little League Baseball®, which is used by all leagues chartered through Little League Baseball® and is not controlled by our local board. Please note that your child's League Age will not always match their physical age (especially in the fall when the age chart is moved forward). For enrollment purposes, the players' available divisions will be based solely on their League Age using the official Little League Baseball® age chart. Little League Baseball® has an easy-to-use age calculator that can be found here.
A copy of your child’s birth certificate is required at evaluations to verify their age. All players are required to attend a mandatory evaluation prior to the start of the season.
What are the different divisions?
Boca Raton Little League is broken down into 6 divisions based on age, skill, and understanding of the game. For a full description of each division please see our Divisions here.
What is included with the registration fee?
All players receive personalized uniforms, including jerseys, pants, socks, belts, and hats. Pants are not provided in the seniors division.
What else is required?
Players are expected to provide their own helmet, glove, and bat. A hard cup is recommended for all players and is REQUIRED for all catchers. Rubber cleats are also recommended. In the 50/70 division and above metal cleats are permitted but metal cleats are never permitted in the turn batting cages.
When and Where are practices and games (Time Requirements)?
Little League is a 3-day-a-week commitment to your team. During the regular season, each team will have a weekday evening practice and 2 weekly games, one on a weekday evening and one on Saturday. During the preseason teams will have 2 weekly practices, one on a weekday evening and another on Saturday. Practices are 1.5 hours and games generally last 2 hours with pre and post-game activities.
We use various parks maintained by the City of Boca Raton Parks and Recreation District including Sugar Sand, Patch Reef Park, Don Estridge School, El Rio, and Spanish River Park. We try to host as many events as we can at Sugar Sand Park however, due to the number of teams and other factors there will be events at other locations.
Can my child play on the same team as his/her friends?
All players are expected to attend a mandatory evaluation prior to start-of-season. This allows the Minor and Major Divisions to conduct their drafts. Children of Managers, Coaches, Sponsors and similar-aged siblings of players drafted will be placed onto the same team. Requests to play with another player will be considered by coaches in the draft but cannot be guaranteed. We ask that any such request must be submitted by both players. Coaches are alerted to the requests and attempt to satisfy the numerous requests we get, however, for particular reasons, it may not be possible.
Can I be a manager or coach in the league?
All managers, coaches, and volunteers must register on our Sports Connect Blue Sombrero website found here. After registration, a background check will be conducted. All managers and coaches must be reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors.
