Korey Martin

A 2009 graduate of West Lincoln High School, Korey Martin was one of the few 5 tool players to come through the West Lincoln Baseball program.  Korey was signed by former Maiden standout Grant Rembrant to play at USC-Upstate as they made the jump to Division I.  Coming out of the fall Korey was projected to leadoff and play centerfield, but unfortunate personal circumstances caused Korey to have to leave the Upstate area and sit out a season before continuing his career at Catawba Valley Community College with former West Lincoln teammate Bradley Carpenter.  As a fresman at CVCC Korey had a stellar season for the Buccaneers.  He finished 12th in the Nation with a .450 Batting Average and 6th Nationally with 7 Triples.  He also lead the team with 59 hits, 36 Runs Batted In, 47 Runs Scored, and 19 Stolen Bases and did all this in only 36 games.  Korey also finished the season with 15 doubles and a homerun.  All of this earned Korey a spot on the First Team All-Region 10 team in just his freshman season.  As a sophomore, Korey was having another good season and had signed a Division I scholarship with Hofstra University on Long Island NY.  Unfortunately, Korey's season was cut short and he was unable to continue his baseball career.
