Players will be permitted to play up a year to ensure your current team stays intact if that is what your club and team desire.

** Please note for the 2017/2018 season the MSYSA maximum roster sizes for U9 (2009) and U10 (2008) is 12 players and they will play 7v7.
The maximum roster sizes for U11(2007) any U12 (2006) is 16 players and they will play 9v9.

The Maryland Open Soccer League (MOSL) will offer competition for both Recreational (U8-U19), Recreation Plus and Travel level teams (U9-U19) within separate Recreational and Classic Divisions. MOSL has been sanctioned by the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA).

MOSL has been designed to provide the opportunity for Recreational, Recreation Plus Classic level teams and Travel level teams to play a variety of competition with teams from many other local clubs each season. There is no fee for clubs to join MOSL nor are clubs required to enter all their teams into the league. They may enter as many teams as they choose at any level. All clubs that join MOSL will be considered member clubs.  However all clubs and teams MUST be an affiliated club with MSYSA. Only MSYSA member teams are permitted to participate in the league.

Teams will play an eight-game schedule consisting of four home games and four away games. Teams are asked to provide a home field however to ensure travel is limited a neutral site location may be created in the Mt. Airy area for those teams traveling from farther distances and require a home field. League rules pertaining to home field venues are in place with the intention that away game travel should be no more than 30-40 minutes for any club participating in the league.

All Recreation Plus or Classic level teams and Travel teams (U9-U19) must have player cards through MSYSA. Recreation players will not be carded. All teams from Recreation, Recreation Plus and Travel will be officially rostered with MSYSA through their club. Teams will play in their own club uniforms.

MOSL has divisional promotion and relegation rules in place with the intention that teams will find their most appropriate and challenging level of play over time.
