-DO I NEED PREVIOUS VOLLEYBALL EXPERIENCE TO TRYOUT?---

I have received questions from parents and girls in regard to previous playing experience or requirements to tryout? The answer is, NO. No previous play experience is required to tryout. We all need to start somewhere, and one of the purposes of the open gyms is to provide an opportunity to teach and train anyone that has the willingness to compete.


---TEAM TRYOUTS AUGUST 17-29, 2026 8AM-11AM---

Please be aware there will be no makeup days or alternate dates for any sophomore, junior or senior on the basis of personal schedule requests. Our tryout matrix is based-on scores that will be gathered throughout the 3 days. The total of those scores will be the player's final evaluation. Since THERE ARE EVALUATIONS DAILY, IT IS ESSENTIAL ATHLETES ATTEND ALL DAYS TO MAXIMIZE THEIR POTENTIAL SCORE. THIS IS WHY OUR 3 DAY TRYOUT IS POSTED AS "MANDATORY."

To give some insight, our evaluation includes various basic volleyball skills, general athletic ability, various coachability and team attitude assessment.


---WHY ARE THERE NO MAKE UP DATES FOR TRYOUTS?---

Furloughing tryouts would require us to render rosters incomplete until all tryouts would have been completed. This would not be for the greater good of our varsity and JV teams, especially considering the short window we have to prepare for our first competition. NJSIAA requires 6 practices of participation for players before eligible for competitive play.


---TEAM SELECTION NOTIFICATIONS---

Team selection notices will be sent out via email to each individual athlete the evening of the last day of tryouts.
This season we will maintain a total of 3 squads comprised of approximately 15 players per squad (Frosh, JV, Varsity). We currently have a significant number of girls registered for tryouts, so our tryouts will be relatively competitive.


--A NOTE TO OUR RISING FRESHMAN AND FAMILIES.--

It is understandable that there is a small window of grace available to an incoming freshman athlete(s) whose family may have inadvertently booked a significant trip unaware of our tryout dates. With that in mind, a written request for a circumstantial tryout date will be taken into consideration on a case-by-case basis. Since we have a significant number of freshmen registered to tryout, there will be no ability to accommodate any tryout beyond the 3rd day of school.
