Participation Policy
Selection for Southern Maryland Revolution Lacrosse Club teams is highly competitive and players who are chosen are expected to make a commitment to the Club to give there best at all times. It is expected that players will attend all scheduled practices, scrimmages, and tournaments through the end of the season (mid July). Scheduled practices, scrimmages and tournaments will be posted on the Club’s website as they are confirmed.
Failure to Participate: Failure to participate adversely impacts all other players on a team and its ability to successfully compete. There are very few acceptable reasons for absences from Club activities but in the unlikely event that a player must miss a practice, scrimmage or tournament, she must obtain approval from her coaches at least 7 days in advance of missing a practice or scrimmage and at least 30 days or as much notice as possible in advance for missing a tournament. Examples of an excused absence might Include:
Examples of unexcused absences include:
A player who does not follow through on this commitment will jeopardize her participation in the Club; her position on the team; and face restricted playing time. The team’s coaches are the final arbiters of what is and is not an excused absence and they have full authority to limit playing time or bench players that fail to meet their commitment. Players who continue to exhibit a lack of commitment will not be allowed to try out for a Club team the following year.

Playing Time Policy
The Southern Maryland Revolution Lacrosse Club is one of the most competitive clubs in the country and is comprised primarily of players interested in playing women's lacrosse beyond high school. Therefore, the Club is focused on providing players with the best opportunities to showcase their abilities in front of college coaches and to play on a competitive team.
The coaches are asked to achieve the dual goal of showcasing players and winning. Playing time can be positively or negatively impacted based on the player's attitude, attendance, effort, and coachability. In extreme circumstances, the coach has the option to sit a player for an entire game, if in the opinion of the coach that player is negatively impacting the team.
In championship (advancing) format tournaments, once a team has made the playoffs, coaches have the option to field specific players for longer periods of time. This may significantly impact the playing time for some players. However, every effort will be made to ensure that players in good standing will have an opportunity to play in each game.
