RULES

  As per Canadian Hockey Association Rules except:

 

  1. No intentional body checking or rough play will be allowed.  These infractions will constitute a minor or major penalty at the discretion of the officials.
     
  2. Three minor penalties or one major penalty or a 10 minute misconduct in one game will result in a GAME EJECTION.   A double-minor counts as two minor penalties.
     
  3. Teams may only use players that are on their roster (excluding goalies), any other players will be considered ineligible.
     
  4. All players, including spares, must have a number on their jersey. If a player does not have a number he will be asked to leave the ice and may only return once numbered jersey is being worn.
     
  5. If a team is using a spare player the spare must be made noted to the time keeper. If this is not done the spare will be considered ineligible.
     
  6. If a team suspects the opposing team is using an ineligible player, one player must approach the time keeps box between periods and inform an FGHL staff.  The suspected offender must provide photo ID (if required). If the suspected offender does not comply he will be ejected from the game and be considered ineligible. If the accusing team is wrong a 2 minute penalty will be issued. Accusations must be made during the game, once the game has concluded the game will stand.
     
  7. Teams caught using an ineligible player, (someone not on your roster or a spare that has not checked in for that game) during the regular season, will have the ineligible player ejected and a minor penalty will be assessed to the team. Teams caught using an ineligible player during the playoffs will forfeit that game.
     
  8. No more than 15 active skaters, 1 active goalie and 5 spares are allowed on your roster.
     
  9. You must not exceed 15 skaters on the bench. Any player above the 15th skaters will be considered ineligible.
     
  10. If a player is suspended due to an altercation they are ineligible to play in the FGHL until the suspension has been served in full. If a player plays for 2 teams (team A and team B) their suspension must be served in full for team A before they can play with team B.
     
  11. If an ineligible player is suspended, the team representative on file with the FGHL will serve the suspension.
     
  12. Once a player has been assessed 6 suspensions in one season, the player will be suspended from play for the remainder of the season (every game a player is suspended for counts as 1 suspension).
     
  13. Any player playing while suspended will continue his full suspension the following game, with an additional 2 games added to his suspension. The team representative will also receive a 1 game suspension and game ejection as soon as the player is noticed and removed from the game.
     
  14. Any player receiving 50 penalty minutes before playoffs, will not be allowed to participate in further league games for the remainder of the season (including playoffs).
     
  15. If a game is stopped for any reason, the portion of the game played will count as the entire game. The referees have the option to call a game if they deem it necessary. All goals, assists, penalties, and suspensions will be counted.
     
  16. If a player is wearing equipment improperly, the player will be asked to leave the ice to fix his equipment and my only return when done so. All helmet straps must be done up.
     
  17.  All players must have a number on their jersey.
     
  18. If two teams have jerseys that are to close to differentiate, the away team must change jerseys the first game. Teams will rotate changing jerseys thereafter. The league has a set of jerseys which will be provided to help in this situation if available.
     
  19. Once the puck carrier has crossed his team’s blue line, the puck may be fired the length of the ice without this being called icing. The league has also abandoned the red line for two-line passes.
     
  20. If a goaltender intentionally stops the play (by dislodging the goal, removing his mask, etc.) during a breakaway, a penalty shot will be awarded to the non-offending team.
     
  21. Penalties for fighting: A fight is called by the referee, not the FGHL.

If a player is throwing punches with their gloves on they will receive a double minor penalty

Dropping Gloves

Double minor

Players will receive a Double minor Penalty if they drop their gloves in an attempt to fight (At the referee’s discretion). In most cases the player(s) will not receive any additional suspension.

 First Fight

5 Minutes / Game Misconduct/ 5 Game Suspension*

Second Fight

If a player is in two fights in a season, the player will be ejected from the league.

  1. Any player on the ice, that enters a fight as a 3rd, 4th, or 5th, man in will receive a 1 game suspension. Player can also still receive other suspension.
     
  2. Any player leaving the bench or penalty box to enter or start a fight will receive a 6 game suspension. Player can also still receive other suspension.
     
  3. When a player is issued a penalty resulting in a team to be at a disadvantage the ensuing faceoff will take place in the offending team’s zone.
     
  4. Players ejected from a game as a result of an altercation may not watch the game from behind the glass, but must remain in their dressing room or leave the building. To prevent further altercations in the hallway or dressing room area, when players from opposing teams are ejected from a game, one will be asked to remain in the penalty box until the opposing player is in his dressing room.
    If a player refuses to leave the ice after being directed to do so by the officials and/or continues to disrupt the game to such a degree that it cannot be continued within a reasonable amount of time, the game will be suspended, and a forfeit win will be awarded to the opposing team.
     
  5. Any players involved in an altercation in the hallway/dressing room area will be subject to a season-ending suspension, pending review by league administration.

     

  6. Suspended players can be at their team’s next game(s) to help out (i.e. open bench doors). The suspended player may still receive additional suspensions if being a disturbance to the game.
     
  7. Schedule of Penalty Minutes:

Minor penalties   

2 minutes

3 minutes (player may exit the box after puck drop and not ahead for the play) 

Major penalties

5 minute penalty on the board, ejected from the game 

 

 



 

  1. Any player receiving a season suspension may be allowed to return the following season, by a majority vote of the league executive. The team must apply to the league executive to have the player reinstated, and the vote will take place before the captains’ meeting of the following season.
     
  2. If a Player is assessed a 5min major (he would be ejected from the game) his team does not have to sit someone in the box for the 5min, they still play shorthanded, but when the penalty is over a player may enter the ice from the player’s bench so the team is at full strength.
     
  3. Any players abusing officials, including timekeepers, on or off the ice, before or after a game, in any way will immediately be assessed a Game Misconduct (3game suspension). If the abuse continues the player will be assessed a Gross misconduct and the corresponding suspension. Any physical abuse of officials will result in the immediate season suspension of the player and will be dealt with by the league Administration.
     
  4. Any player or team official who engages in verbal taunts, insults or intimidation based on discriminatory grounds (race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, language) shall be assessed a Gross Misconduct penalty and the Referee shall report full details of the incident to the President. Notwithstanding the above, at the discretion of the Referee, a Gross Misconduct penalty may be assessed for any infraction to any player or team official.
     
  5. Any player who retaliates to “Section 32” will also be assessed a Gross Misconduct penalty.
     
  6. The discipline committee will deal with all protests and player suspensions. Protests must be made within 48 hours of the time the suspension was issued. Protests must be sent to FGHLsinbin@hotmail.com
     
  7. If a goaltender is struck in the mask with a puck, there is no automatic whistle. It will be left to the referee’s discretion as to whether or not play should be stopped. If the goaltenders’ mask comes off the play will be blown dead.
     
  8. In a shootout or penalty shot situation, the goaltender may leave the crease once the opposing player touches the puck at center ice.
     
  9. If game is still tied best of three shoot will take place. If still tied, then a sudden death shoot out will take place. You must use everyone that is eligible to shoot before you repeat any players. The shooters that shot in the best of three must wait for all the remaining shooters to shoot before they shoot again. Players ejected from the game, serving penalties or misconducts at the end of game play, and goaltenders are not eligible to participate as shooters.
     
  10. Playoff games - if the game is still tied at the end of regulation a 3 on 3, 2min sudden death overtime will take place
     
  11. Championship Game - if the game is still tied at the end of regulation a 4 on 4, sudden death. 5 min overtime will take place.
     
  12. If a team has a 5 goal lead with 5 minutes left in the third period the game will go into running time. This meaning, the timekeeper will not stop the game clock no matter the situation, even if the loosing team scores to bring the score within 5 goals. This rule will not take effect during playoffs.  
     
  13. In the case of an injury to a player or goaltender, the officials have the option of making any necessary adjustments to the remaining game time, based on the time remaining in the ice slot. All games will end at the scheduled end time, regardless of any situation that takes place during this timeframe.
     
  14. All players must be of the male gender on their government issued ID to participate in the FGHL
