GAME STRUCTURE:
Regulation Time:
- Each game consists of two 20 minute halves
- Stop time occurs in the last 3 minutes of the second half if the score is within 10 points or less, and if within the last 3 minutes the score does become within 10 points, at that point stop time will begin.
- To prevent any player injuries or unnecessary actions, if the score is 20 points or more with 3 minutes left on the game clock, the game will be blown dead by the official
- Game Clock will stop on all timeouts – regardless if it’s a player time out or an official’s time out
- There is 1 full time out allocated per team per half, if the time out is not used in the first half, it can be carried over
- Each timeout is 30 seconds in length
- If a timeout is called in the second half within 3 minutes off of a dead ball or rebound without the player in possession dribbling the ball, the ball will be advanced to half court opposite the scorer’s table
- Half time break is 1 minute
Overtime (OT):
- If the game is tied, there will be a 5 minute OT period along with stop time in the last 30 seconds of OT.
- OT consists of 1 new time out per team, and no time outs carried over
- Fouls will be carried over in the OT period from the second half in regulation
- Each time out is 30 seconds in length.
- If the game is still tied at the end of the first OT period, OT will continue in increments of 3 minutes onwards until there is a winner (with stop time in the last 30 seconds)
At Game Start Time
- Each team must finish the game with at least 4 players on the court – if they only have 3 remaining the game will be called dead as a forfeit
- At the start of the game, if a team does not have at least 4 players to play, a number of consequences will be implicated :
- Game clock will begin
- 1 technical foul will be awarded for each ringer
- The technical will be given at half time
- The team that has enough players will be given first possession in the game
- After 10 minutes of running time, the win is automatically given to the team that is ready
Ringer
Regular Season
- If a team has 4 players to start a game, a ringer (either within or outside the MTBA) can take the place of that missing player
- If a team has 3 players to start a game they have one of two options:
- Select 2 ringers (OUTSIDE the MTBA) or:
- Select 1 ringer (player within the MTBA) and 1 ringer (a person OUTSIDE the MTBA)
*A ringer outside the MTBA will be given preference over a ringer within the MTBA in both cases.
Playoffs
- Ringers will ONLY be allowed for 1st and 2nd round draft picks who are INJURED (not missing) - Otherwise, NO ringers allowed in the playoffs
Season & Playoffs
- Ringers cannot be switched during a game. Once selected, the ringer must play for the entire game they were chosen for.
Note: The ringer selected must be approved by the Captain of the opposing team and 2 of the following Commissioners: Amir, Ayaz and/or Naumaan
*Extremely special circumstances will be taken into account as far as ringers in the playoffs. Otherwise no ringers are permitted in the playoffs.
GAME RULES:
Approaching Officials
- All players must respect the officials call at all times
- If any player or team as concerns/questions, only the captain is permitted to approach the official in a respectful manner
Offensive 3 Second in the Key
- If an opposing player stays in the key for 3 seconds or more without leaving it and coming back, possession will be given to opposite team.
8 Seconds Rule
- A team has 8 seconds to bring the ball up past half-court from the time the ball was inbounded
Substitution
- If a team wants a substitution, they must notify the referee. The referee will stop the play at a dead ball, and the substitution will be allowed.
- At no time should substitutions be made on the fly.
Free Throws
- Once the ball has been given to the player from the referee, the player has 10 seconds to shoot the ball, or he will lose the chance of shooting.
- On free throws, the shooter and everyone outside the 3 point line must wait for the ball to hit the rim
- Everyone in the lanes on free throws are permitted to move on release
Inbound
- A player must inbound the ball within 5 seconds, or the ball will be awarded to the opposing team
- The player inbounding must have his foot behind the line or the ball will be awarded to the opposing team.
Jersey Rule
- Each player must be in uniform with jersey at least, each undressed player will result in 2 technical foul shots at the halftime
Other Rules
- 5 second defensive stance rule
- No backcourt violations – unless on a throw in (which applies to anywhere on the court)
- Defensive and offensive fouls will be called
- No travelling
FOULS
Regular Fouls
- An offensive foul will be counted as a personal foul and a team foul, however there will be no bonus shots resulting from an offensive foul.
- A defensive foul will be counted as a personal foul and a team foul, and there will be bonus shots resulting if there is need.
- Each team will shoot a 1 and 1 bonus on the 7th team foul; and each team will shoot a double bonus on the 10th team foul and anything beyond that mark
- Fouls do not carry over after the half, fouls start new in the second half.
- In the last 2 minutes of the second half, if more than two fouls are committed, automatic 1 and 1 free throw is awarded.
- A foul on a 2 point field goal will be assessed 2 free throws; on a 3 point field goal attempt 3 free throws will be awarded
- Each player is allotted 6 personal fouls, on the 6th personal foul, a player is disqualified and not permitted to enter the game or step on the court
- There are no clear path fouls, only flagrant fouls
- A flagrant foul will be called on a foul that does not have a play being made on the ball
- A flagrant will also be assessed on a player committing a foul prior to the ball being made live by throw in
Technical Fouls
- 2 personal technical’s results in an ejection from that game as well as an automatic suspension for the following scheduled game
- Technical fouls will be given for using profanity directed to either a specific player, towards a team bench and anything directed towards an official
- Technical’s are handed out at an officials discretion – technical fouls can be assessed for taunting or excessive yelling (do not have to be swearing)
OTHER
Trades
- A trade will be deemed "Official" if both participating captains/GM's email or text either Naumaan, or Ayaz.
Facilities
- Smoking is not allowed on school propery. If you are caught smoking on school property, you will be SUSPENDED and/or REMOVED from the league- plain & simple (School property includes: any area within the parking lot of the school)
- Spectators (people who are not registered with the MTBA) are not allowed in the facilities of the court/school, unless approved by Ayaz and/or Naumaan.
SUSPENSIONS
- Any physical altercation inside or outside the basketball court will result in a suspension determined by the Commissioners/Referee depending on the situation
- Any third party involved in an altercation inside or outside the basketball court will result in a suspension determined by the Commissioners/Referee depending on the situation
- Suspensions/ejections can be handed out by any Commissioner at any time
