Welcome to the 2018 PJMS Wrestling Season!
Practice starts January 8, 2018 from 2:30 - 4:30, Monday - Friday
Expect your wrestler to be at practice until 4:45
Parent Meeting January 8, 2018 at 6:00 PM. This is a short meeting to welcome you, tell you about the upcoming season, and meet the coaches.

PJMS host one of the largest middle school tournaments of the season. It's a lot of fun and a lot of work. We could not do it without the help of volunteers. Please plan on volunteering at the tournament and providing something for the hospitality room. We appreciate all of the help we get.

The Powerful PJMS Moose wrestlers charged to a repeat State Championship at the 2014-39th annual Tanana Invitational!
5 champions!
8th Grader- #2 seed, Devin Gentz defeated #1 seed for the title at 98 pounds, 7th Grade- #1 seed Levi Farris pinned the #2 seed for Palmer's second title, top ranked Christian Kurka (8th Grade),won his match, and the 160 lb title by pinning all 4 of his Tanana opponents! for the third title, as did # 1 seed-Lucas Santana, 8th Grade, 210 lbs for title #4, and #1 seed, 8th Grade Abe Foytik-HWT, for a powerful final round total of 5 championships! Palmer's powerful team showed Moose domination throughout the weekend with a 3rd place finish in the tough 140 lb weight class from 8th graders, Jeff Glynn and a 3rd place from Brenan Powell at 126, 4th place at 148 by Zion Rogers, 5th from Jason Watkins at 118, and 5th from 7th Grader Jack Fouch at 114lbs, 7th from 7th grade Joe Rankin at 110, 7th at 70 from 6th grader, Tristan Pendergrass and 8th at 70 lb from 6th grade Hunter Grieve. Many points were blocked by wins and a total of 51 pins scored by the Moose wrestlers throughout the weekend. Thanks to all who helped make it possible through hard work, "blood, sweat and tears", and dedication from the beginning of pre-season , right until the end of the last match! It was truly a special season for a team full of winners! A season truly worthy of Champions!
2013 Tanana Invitational State Champions!
In a well fought battle the Jr. Moose made an excellent showing at the largest middle school tournament in the state!
Brenan Powell- State Champion 114 pounds- led the team with a thrilling victory in the finals. Palmer scored in 17 out of 18 weight classes, Moose 8th Graders came through with 107.5 points-Austin Farris-28, Odin Andersen-22, Matt Grothe-20.5, Andrew Laliberte-14.5, Noah Smith-8, Josiah Alverts-7.5 and Brian Dyer-7! 7th Graders supplied 151.5 total points, Brenan Powell (Team High Scorer) 32.5, Devin Gentz-19.5, Zion Rogers-19.5, Jeff Glynn-19, Christian Kurka-15.5, Wade McGann-13, Abraham Foytik-12.5, Lucas Santana-12, and Jason Watkins 8. And finally 20 points from 6th grader -Levi Farris! The entire team wrestled tough all weekend scoring 45 pins total; tied with North Pole, and blocking lots of other teams from scoring points against us! Moose scored in every weight we entered! The entire season was a real testament to the hard work all season from the athletes and the dedication of the great coaches. Thanks especially to Don Malone for leading the way, Chris Andersen working in the trenches everyday, Gary Alcock for supporting us in the room and mat side at the tournaments, Grady Powell, Dale Ewart and all of the parent volunteers who helped keep things going. What a great way to end a perfect season! Special Thanks to Ms. Berkley and the PJMS staff for all of their support all season long as well as an appearance as a #1 fan in Fairbanks! Thanks to everyone for being a part of the fun! It was a great run and the strong team will definitely be back to make some noise in the future!
1ST PLACE CHAMPIONS in the Valley
Brenan Powell, Noah Smith, Jeff Glynn, Matt Groethe, and Abraham Foytik led the Palmer Moose to a third week in a row "First Place Title" at the Valley Championship Tournament! 22 Wrestlers in the Semi- finals, 11 in the finals and a huge showing on the backside led by Levi Farris, Nathan Reeves, Andrew Laliberte, Brian Dyer, and Keegan Larsen. Odin Andersen, Wade McGann, Devon Gentz, Jason Watkins, Jack Perdue, Austin Farris, and Lucas Santana with solid second place finishes gave Palmer a dominating 40 point margin over the rest of the competition! For the second week in a row, all I can say is WOW!!!, This team rocks!!! Great matches, great sportsmanship and awesome performances to solidify Palmer Moose's spot as the "BEST MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLERS IN THE MAT-SU VALLEY-2013!

Palmer Moose Shine in the Spotlight at the Palmer Middle School Invitational with 10 in the Finals, 3 Champions,Outstanding Wrestler and the 1st Place Team Title
Thanks to everyone who helped make the 2013 Palmer Invitational a huge success! Parents, volunteers, coaches, visiting teams and, most of all, the Palmer Middle School "Jr. Moose! The Moose wrestled tough throughout the tournament and when the time for the spotlight round came, the line-up looked more like a duel meet than an Invitational! With 10 Varsity wrestlers in the FINALS! Palmer's Noah Smith @ 114LBS, Austin Farris @ 160 lbs, and Brenan Powell @ 110lbs led the team with Championship victories and with a huge upset in the final match, Brenan also brough home the meets "Outstanding Wrestler" award for his exceptional performance! As a team Varsity Moose dominated team scoring with a 65 point margin over the closest competion! As a rookie tournament director, all I can say is "Wow! What a performance by our team!"

31 Wrestlers head North to Glennallen & Valdez for dual and mix-n-match
Palmer Wrestlers traveled into the interior for an exciting dual meet vs. Glennallen, and a fun filled weekend of mix-n-match wrestling at Valdez with Glennallen, Cordova and Valdez Middle School. Thanks to PJMS, Coach Malone and all of the parents and volunteers who helped organize, drive and support the team. We broke up the 5 hour drive with a very sucessful showing against the Glennallen team, Congrats to Abe Fortik , our new heavyweight 7th grader with a nice win in his first match as a Varsity Wrestler! Next up, an evening round of matches with wrestlers paired up based on size and skill. Snowtown hospitality included taco dinner and free run of the REC Center till bed time. Saturday morning the day started early for Pancake breakfast and 2 full rounds, with matches set up to maximize the competition and development of the wrestlers. There were many great matches and great opportunity for honing skills with new opponents. Great sportsmanship and effort was shown throughout. Thanks to Mr. Morrison, Coach Childs and the Valdez School District & community for hosting, feeding and organizing the athletes to wrestle with our boys.

The season is up and running and The PJMS Moose Wrestlers are looking tough. At the JV level , Lucas Santana-210 and Jason Watkins took first place. At Varsity, Odin Anderson, Noah Smith and Matt Groethe. Both teams were strong with lots of match victories, solid moves and great sportsmanship. Thanks to coaches, Malone, Anderson and Powell for the worthwhile time spent teaching our boys. Veteran and first time wrestlers alike battled tough and showed lots of heart.
