West Lincoln High School Baseball Field
West Lincoln High School baseball field was moved from the old location, which is the current football field, to the current location in the late 1960's. The current dugouts were added during the tenure of head coach Wes Beam during the 1970's. The field remained virtually unchanged throughout as the coaching position changed hands many times throughout the late 80's and early 1990's. The current press box was completed by the parents of the class of 2000, along with an infield sprinkler system, and the transformation of West Lincoln High School Baseball began.
In 2004 West Lincoln played its first home game under the lights. The community pitched a plan to add the lights with the help of Rutherford Electric donating much of the labor cost to the school. Once the lights were erected, the athletic department under the direction of Wayne Navey, played a vital role in paying off the debt incurred by the booster club to complete the project. Little did anyone know that the new game times would lead to a West Lincoln tradition of a late April or early May "sun delay".
Beginning in 2012 the coaches and players took a more intentional approach at fundraising in order to take on field or stadium projects that would leave the program in better shape for those who would play after their graduation. These fundraisers have been extremely successful and have allowed the field at West Lincoln to become one of the finest in the conference. The following is a list of projects that have been completed and the class, or classes that helped raise the funds in order to "give back" to the program...
2011-12 - Turf bullpen and catcher's area
2013-14 - Cement batting cage
2015 - Sprinkler System in the outfield
2016 - New foul poles
2017 - Halo around home plate
