Tryouts

There will be 3 days (Monday - Wednesday) of triple sessions, and then there will be double sessions (Thursday - Friday).  Schedules will be given at tryouts.

What do you need for tryouts:

  1. Soccer attire (we play rain or shine - dress appropriately and bring extra clothes to change if need be during triple and double sessions)
  2. Shin guards (Make sure they are NOCSAE approved!)
  3. Cleats and sneakers (Cleats must be soccer cleats, sneakers will be worn during our timed distance runs on the track)
  4. Snack/lunch - during the first week you will want to bring lunch or a snack to eat during your break.  This will not be provided and remember...your food is your fuel, choose wisely!
  5. Water bottle - we always allow drinks throughout practice...it is easiest if a water bottle can be brought around to drills.
  6. Sun screen

Advise for the first week of practice:

  1. Be prepared - get your equipment together the night before so that you are not scrambling in the morning.
  2. Be on time - If you are not 15 minutes early, you are late.  This is a team philosophy so we can start on time.  It also gives some wiggle room should something come up to delay your arrival.
  3. Sleep - make sure to get a good nights rest prior to training.  Your muscles recover best when you are in a deep (REM) sleep.  At least 8 hrs is recommended.
  4. Eat - Get a good meal with good carbohydrates the night before and make sure to eat a breakfast...it will be your fuel for the day.  Lastly, make sure to eat something immediately after training...it helps muscles recover quicker and refills your depleted glycogen stores.
  5. Hydrate - Prehydrate (drink water prior to practice), drink throughout practice (generally a water bottle full during training), and rehydrate (drink plenty of water after practice to help eliminate waste and soreness.
  6. Gauge yourself - You want to push yourself...but know your fitness and your limitations.
  7. ICE - Don't heat what is sore...ice it to lessen the swelling and soreness.
  8. Enjoy and embrace the challenge of the start of the season!  Nothing great is ever accomplished without hard work.
  9. Be a great teammate.  Go out of your way to push each other in positive ways and support each other as we grow as a team.
