July 21, 2023 - Announcement - Technical Director
EDZA South is excited to announce that Phil Richer will be joining the group as Technical Director. Phil is excited to start working with all 8 of our team's players and coaches.
Phil has played in the QMJHL for both the SJ Seadogs as well as Baie-Comeau Drakkar, in the MHL with the Miramichi Timberwolves and at Concordia University. As a coach Phil has been involved with the HNB High Performance program for multiple years and will be the Head Coach of this year's U16 Team NB that will participate in the Q-Cup. Phil was also the Head coach and GM of the St. Stephen Aces, as well as Assistant coach with the SJ Vito’s. Phil is currently a full time scout with the Gatineau Olympic. Phil has a great understanding of the game of hockey and the importance of player development as well as an outstanding work ethic.

U16 AAA Knights - Coach Announcement
EDZA South is happy to announce Maryelle Hannam as the Head coach of the U16 Knights for the 2023/24 hockey season. Maryelle brings countless years of experience both as a player and coach. She has been involved as a coach at the Provincial level as well as the National level where she won a gold medal in 2019 with Team Canada U18 Female at the World Championships. We are excited to have such a knowledgeable hockey person leading the Knights!!
U15 AAA Major - Port City Sharks - Coach Announcement
EDZA South is happy to announce Matt Murphy as the Head coach of the U15 Major Port City Sharks for the 2023/24 hockey season. Matt, offers many years of experience playing at elite levels such as the Woodstock Slammers of the MHL as well as the University of Windsor and RMC. Matt, will be joined on the bench by fellow Woodstock slammer Ben Miller. Ben has been a part of the Sharks program for several years and we are fortunate to have him return.
U15 AAA Major - KV Kings - Coach Announcement
EDZA South is happy to announce Brad Burns as the head coach of the U15 Major K.V. Kings for the 2023/24 hockey season. Brad has been involved with coaching hockey for more than 25 years at many different levels. Brad has a keen sense for what it takes to develop players of this age. Brad will be joined behind the bench by Ryan Langan, Ryan played 5 full seasons in the MHL where he was captain of the Dieppe Commandos.

Member at Large - Revenue
As Member at Large - Revenue you will be responsible for working with the 8 EDZA South teams to maximize revenue through fundraising events. You will strive to achieve and retain Corporate sponsorship for EDZA South at all 3 age groups U16/U15/U13. You will manage and foster these corporate relationships and promote the value of elite hockey in our community. This is a full voting board position.
Member at Large - Facilities & Equipment
As Member at Large - Facilities & Equipment you will be responsible for managing all facilities that EDZA South use, rinks/gyms/storage facilities/banquet rooms etc. You will also be responsible for the distribution and collection of all EDZA South equipment/jerseys/ipads etc. This is a full voting board position.
Director of Female Hockey
As Director of Female Hockey you will be responsible to organize, manage and administer the Edza South Female program. This is a full voting board position.

2023 Atlantic High Performance 1 Coaching Clinic
Hockey New Brunswick is hosting the 2023 Atlantic High Performance 1 Coaching Clinic.
The following information is from Hockey NB for interested coaches.
Hockey New Brunswick is excited to announce that our High Performance Program will be hosting the 2023 Atlantic High Performance 1 Clinic. The NCCP High Performance 1 Clinic is held every two to three years in Atlantic Canada and is targeted at those coaches who have significant coaching experience and want to pursue higher levels of coaching competitive athletes. The dates of this event are as follows:
May 26th – 28th, 2023: National Virtual Delivery.
May 28th – June 2nd, 2022: Virtual Modules (TBD).
June 2nd – 4th: HP1 In person seminar in Moncton, NB hosted at the Crowne Plaza.
