Smooth Stones Youth Sports Association is a 501(C)3  non-for-profit youth sports association located out of Orlando, Florida.

 

 

 

 

 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL GOAL

 

Our goal is to reach out to youth athletes of all ages who possess the basic skills and desire to excel in youth sports and engage them in sports programs that will empower them to develop the necessary character and life skills to succeed in life.

OUR BELIEF

 

We at Smooth Stones Youth Sports Association believe that good morals and excellent character is essential to success in any endeavor in life.

 

 

Therefore, Smooths Stones is committed to  teaching, coaching, and mentoring our  athletes in  character traits such as:

SPONSORSHIP AND PARTNERSHIPS

 

 

Smooth Stones  is currently not sponsored or endorsed by any of the athletic companies such as, Nike, Adidas, Reebok or Under Armor, therefore our primary funding comes from the support of caring parents, donations and fundraising activities.

 

 

 

 We also support and partner with other youth sports programs for the purpose of enhancing our player’s opportunities to gain exposure with college coaches and recruiters.

 

 

 

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

 

We understand that not all athletes have natural abilities to play at the highest levels of youth sports and that some athletes have potential, but just need more time to properly develop the fundamentals.

 

 

 

 

 

We are committed to enhancing our player's athletic abilities and skills, so that they can be solid contributors to the success of their:

• middle school teams,
• high school teams and ,  
• have an opportunity to apply and compete for a  college sports scholarships.

 

 

 

OUR PROGRAMS

 

 

Smooth Stones is currently made up of  two programs administered by one governing board and is currently limited by the number of positions on each of the teams listed at the top of this webpage.

 

 

Due to limited space and financial resources, all open positions in each of our programs must be competed for, and youth athletes wanting to join our program must go through a tryout process or a coaches skill evaluation to be selected.

 

SMOOTH STONES SELECT PROGRAM:

 

 

 

This is  our primary program dedicated to developing youth athletes that possess the basic skills to play intermediate level basketball. Our select teams  compete in  American Athletic Union (AAU) and Youth Basketball of America (YBOA)  tournaments at the division 2 and 3 levels.

 

Select players are developed through a process that consist of:

• quality practices,
• participating in local tournaments,
• playing in competitive basketball leagues and,
• through participation in sports clinics.

 

SMOOTH STONES ELITE PROGRAM:

 

 

This program is designed for our select teams who have developed the necessary team chemistry to make the jump to division 1 play.

 

It is also for youth athletes who's basketball skills are very advanced and who have a strong desire to work hard and compete for future college basketball scholarship.

 

 

Youth Athletes wanting to be part of this program must meet academic standards by obtaining and holding a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or better on all school subjects. 

 

This program competes every year at the division 1 level in (AAU) basketball tournaments, held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, located in Disney's Magic Kingdom.

 

In addition, this team also travels to elite in state and out of state tournaments that exposes them to potential college basketball recruiters. 

 

 

OUR STAFF

 

Our staff is an all volunteer staff and do not receive monetary benefits for their services. We serve to glorify God and to invest in the future of the youth athletes entrusted to us.

 

 

All Smooth Stones coaches and staff members directly working with children are required to have background checks conducted in compliance with Youth Basketball of America (YBOA) and American  Athletic Union (AAU) policy.

 

 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL STATEMENT OF FAITH

 

Matthew 19:14

 “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

 

 

Our organization recognizes that God our heavenly Father and creator is the source of our success. We acknowledge his only begotton Son, Jesus Christ,  who is a mirror image of the heavenly Father.

 

In obedience to the Father, Jesus offered himself as a  sacrafice for the sins of the world, which kept all of humanity from having a personal relationship with the  heavenly Father. 

 

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was resurrected from the grave, having fully paid the penalty for our sins and made it possible for all of humanity to be able to enjoy a fatherly relationship with our heavenly  Father, as restored sons and daughters and brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ.

 

Therfore, it is our belief that all of our youth athletes are children of our heavenly Father and princes and princesses in the Kingdom of Heaven.
