2020 Spartan Golf Season

Well, I can safely say I don’t think anyone saw this coming. Only a week into our season and it is looking more and more like the entire season is in jeopardy. I haven’t given up hope yet and no decisions have been made. When something does get decided I will certainly let you know.  As for now, I would like you to continue to prepare as if we are going to start back up soon. So what does that mean? Well, the great golfer Jack Nicklaus said a quote, “golf is 80% mental, 10% skill and 10% luck”. I can very much attest to this having played upwards of 600-700 rounds of golf in my life. Though I can’t help you with the luck part, and it is a bit challenging to work on a lot of skill right now, there are plenty of ways to work on our mental game and for most of you new golfers, learn the rules, etiquette and strategies of the game.  

So I of course plan on giving updates on the outlook of our season, but I will also be giving a rule/etiquette/strategy of the day as well. I’ll probably use twitter, Instagram and the team app as the platform to share. So try to check it daily or every other day.

As for the pandemic, I hope you are all being safe and finding ways to maintain your overall wellness.

Right before everything got shut down I was able to get out and play a round of golf. I miss it already. We are not allowed to get together and practice...so any practicing would have to be on your own (and many of you do not have clubs).

I want to share with you that I enjoyed the few practices we had and am very much excited about coaching this group. My emphasis is not on winning, but teaching you this wonderful game. I want to share my passion with you in every way I can.

Lastly, please do your best to stay on top of your academics. I know it can be challenging...but you can do it. You generation has such amazing technology skills...learning remotely will be second hand for most of you. Feel free to reach out with any help you may need...I would be happy to help.
